Changing dates for cheaper airfare

How many people plan their travel days around the price of airfare? We are going in June 8 -13 and I have my rooms booked but not my airfare. I am waiting for the rates to go down for June but I realize I may need to change my dates some. Am I the only one to do it this way and is their a better way to do this?

I get my hotel room first too. We don't usually plan this far ahead though (more like 6 months at the most). We pick dates that work for our work/school schedule and book the room. Then we shop around for the best airfare for those dates. We rarely change the dates after the fact. -HM

We usually do it the opposite! We quite often are using frequent flier miles (the only upside of an often travelling spouse IMO .... ) so we book our flights quite early. Of course our first consideration is school/vacation schedules, (but we also have become perennial *school skippers* to maximize our vacation time). We pick our *prefered* dates of travel, then work our flight schedule around that....THEN book our hotel, car, tickets, etc.

It works for us.....

I figure I can always get a hotel room in Orlando no matter what the date.

However, finding a decent airfare from Minnesota is a real challenge!.

Actually I just did change my dates to accomodate cheap airfare just yesterday. I almost paid $746 for 4 out of PHL and by going one day later I was able to book for $532 out of ABE (closer then PHL!) This savings of $200+ actually allowed me to extend my stay for yet another night. So now we are going for 8days/7nights for less money!!! Now I need to change my trip counter!!!! lol!
