Changing Castle to Dining plan?

Has anyone ever booked a restaurant (Cindy's castle for us) for cash and then purchased a dining plan after you already had your ressie's??? What did you do in this situation??? I was told two different things from different cast members..... One told me we'd have to call back and rebook our ressie which i know will be hard to do for the castle. The other told us to just show up and tell them once we get there that we are on the dining plan... Has anyone ever had this happen??? thanks for any help or advice!

Actually, my personal preference is to pay out of pocket for CRT even when I'm on the dining plan. It really doesn't cost twice the price of a regular TS meal, and that way I get more TS meals on the trip.

That said, I have heard that if you just show up and tell them you want to use dining credits, they will give you a Disney gift card for what you already paid.

I know we showed up one short in our party once and I was surprised they actually refunded what had been paid on a Disney gift card. It was a welcome surprise. I didn't expect that refund. I just thought it would cost us the extra person sinc it was a prepaid meal.

I reserved CRT for lunch in Sept and paid for it on my credit card. Then I decided to upgrade from QSDP to DDP when I found out what ADRs I got. The reservationist contacted dining for me. They cancelled my ADR and gave me a new one at the exact same time (I checked the number on-line and my new reservation was there). They told me that my credit card would be credited. I received the credit within a day. Worked great.

Note (if you do not know): You can add the dining plan just a few days before your reservation, so many people wait to do it so they are not considered a package and have better cancellation policies and do not pay 45 days in advance. My reservation was already a package due to a long story about booking vacation insurance and tickets but then switching to APs when I had to go sooner than Sept and get a Disney fix!
