Changing an AR for 5 to 6

How hard would it be to change an advance reservation from a 5 person to a 6? My brother has suddenly decided he may want to meet us in WDW in a month and ... well, I am wondering if we can just upgrade our reservations for 1 more person without too much headache. PLEASE, please tell me it will be ok and I will not have to lose all my reservations... or even cancel the dining plan, since we will then have no AR!

You probably won't have a problem. They probably reserved a table for 6 for you as there are usually no tables for 5, so adding one will not be an issue.

This is what I would do:

If you call now, they might let you add one without cancelling. However, they may tell you to rebook, which means you chance not getting it for the time you want or at all if it's booked up.

So, I would wait until I got there, call each morning and say "I have a reservation for 5, can I add one?" That way, they know ahead of time, chances are you won't have to rebook and everyone is happy.

That's just what I would do! Of course, if he's not on the dining plan, you just pay out of pocket for him.

My inlaws surprised us by driving up from central Florida while we were there a week ago. My MIL was able to get the extra 2 seats needed for them to join us for dinner at O'hana by calling that morning and explaining the "surprise" factor. It may work depending on how crowded your restaurant is. Which one are you doing?

I had to add an extra person to our Nov/Dec ADR's a few weeks after I had made them all. For Sci Fi & Boma I was going from 5 to 6 people and they just added the person to the ADR and I kept the same time & confirmation # no problem since the table sat 6 anyway. I'd guess most of yours would be the same and most places your table will seat 6 so it won't be a problem for you.

For the ADR's I had to change from 4 to 3 it also wasn't a problem and kept the same #'s. Changing from 4 to 5 I had to rebook and cancel the old ADR but I had no problems getting close to the same times.
