Changing a reservation

Quick question. I want to book a trip for May of 09. My home resort is SSR, and would cost me alot of points for a three bedroom, which I wouldn't mind too much. I would much rather spend less points and go to OKW. Is it possible for me to book my home resort at 11 months out, and then try to OKW 7 months out? How does that work? I would book SSR now, so at least we have a reservation, but would like to try to get OKW when it is 7 months before. Just because of the point values are so different for the three bedroom. What would happen to the extra points? Would they go into a holding account, or just back into my regular account?

To answer your 1st of 4 questions, OKW Grand Villas are hard to book due to demand (as they are such a good value) . . . so you can try but have a backup plan in place should you not get one on the 7-month window.

As for your 2nd question, "how does that work", I'm really not sure what you mean. If you want to book your SSR reservation on the 11-month windows, to guarantee your stay, that's a great idea. At the 7-month window, you call MS to ask to change the reservation to OKW (and possibly waitlist, if you have the patience).

As for what would happen to the difference in your points (your 3rd & 4th questions), they would go back into your account (only cancellations within 1-30 days prior go into a holding account).

Hope that helps!

They would go back to where they came from. If they were borrowed they will stay in the UY that you borrowed them into.

The points remain in whatever UY you are in, in May '09. If they were current UY and not borrowed or banked and if you are in a banking window when you switch, they could be banked. They would only go into holding if you switched in 30 days or fewer from the time of the reservation. At that point, I would just keep the SSR reservation.

Thanks so much. I will book at SSR to be safe, and then try at 7 months for OKW. We'll see what happends.

Thanks again.
