I have managed to book a last minute vacation for my family for the last 2 weeks in Aug but for the first 8 days of that could only manage to get a cabin at Fort Wilderness. I know its a long shot but if any availablity came up at a DVC resort could I swap the reservation over. Not sure how it works being a non dvc ppty. Thanks in advance.

I do not if I understand you correctly.
CRO and DVC are different
So if you made a cash ressie that is subjct the rules and cancelation policies of CRO or who you made it with so I would say you could lose some-all of your deposit if you cancel to late. If a DVC room became avaialable this would be a new and seperate reservation and subject to the DVC rules as far as points being credited back which as of now (less than 30 days notice) would go into a holding account if you did have a reservation for any part of the last two weeks of August and did cancel.

Sorry didn't make myself very clear. Fort wilderness is also booked via member services using points.

Unfortunately, the short answer is no.
Once you use points to book a non DVC Resort, they become "reservation points", and can not be turned back into "vacation points". Only vacation points (or cash) can be used at a DVC Resort. :smokin:

Just confirming - if you use points to book a non-DVC resort, you cannot use those same points to book a DVC resort or to book an exchange via II.

If you cancel the non-DVC resort, you can only use those points for something in the Disney Collection, the Conceirge Collection or the Adventurer's Collection.
