Changes to Tiers for FP+ at Epcot and Hollywood Studios from 16th June

Well, the last couple times I've been to Epcot, LWTL had a line (non-existent in the past during "slow" times). Maybe moving it to tier 1 will eliminate the longer lines? Or maybe, as some suggest, it will fool some people into thinking its bigger than it is :confused3?

Yeah, the line can be long, but it's FAST. Even with an unusually long line you get through in 10 minutes.....

Guess since I'm from the old days of ticket books, this doesn't bother me much. In fact, I have mentioned to my husband how nice it is too see some lines for the "lesser" attractions. Seeing a whole new group of people enjoying Country Bears, Climbing the Tree House, Riding Rio de Tiempo, I find it kind of exciting. We have enjoyed FP+, and rode every single ride and show in every park last trip, most multiple times. (except for Stitch, which I boycott in memory of Alien Encounter;)

This is a pure hypothesis but they may have moved them to tier 1 because too many were getting a FP+ as a tier 2 creating longer wait times in standby. I could see more people getting GMR as a tier 2 than a tier 1. People who liked fast rides were likely getting RNRC and people that don't like fast rides were getting TSMM. GMR probably had a decent amount getting a FP as a tier 2. I believe this # will decrease as a tier 1.
Same with EPCOT. Between Soarin' (I guess there is some safety reason but I never figured out the 40 inch requirement for it) and TT I dont see many getting Living with the Land as a tier 1. As a tier 2 it may have been used as one of the 2 tier 2s by a decent amount of people. If no other reason than lack of options.
At the end of the day I still see Living with the Land and GMR as stand by rides even with this change. Probably more so with this ride. Maelstrom, even pre FP+ would back up in the afternoon, often with standby times of 50-60 minutes.

Again, be careful... That may be the next great plan. :rolleyes1

What would that even look like anyway?

Tier 1 - Pick 1
7DMR
Space Mtn
Stitch
Thunder Mtn
Dumbo
Bear Jamboree (yeah I put this here...right next to its friend GMR)
Peter Pan
Wishes
Parades
PotC
Buzz Command

Tier 2 - Pick 3
Philharmagic
Small World
Splash Mtn
Jungle Cruise
Journey Undersea/Ariel
Belle Storytime
Presidents
Orbiter

Yeah... no wonder MK doesn't have TIERS! More than half of them would be TIER1... oh yeah, that means there must be enough to go around.

A more realistic Tiering, not tongue in cheek would be:
Tier 1 - pick 1
A&E
7DMR

Tier 2 - pick 2
EVERYTHING ELSE

Maelstrom demoted to Tier 2 makes perfect sense but I don't like the Great Movie Ride and Living with the Land being promoted to Tier 1. Maybe they did it because of the increased wait times they were causing as Tier 2's? We've always been able to walk onto LwtL but encountered a 25 minute wait in May.

I think this will make me buy hoppers and do rope drop only at DHS then head somewhere else with more fastpass options

that is actually our plan for both DHS and Epcot - do them each on an EMH morning (at RD). Epcot we'll go back to in an afternoon later in the trip to do WS but DHS will become a morning only park for us.

Does that mean the choices will change on the website on the 16th or for any FP scheduled after the 16th. I tried to change my Maelstrom FP to TT but that doesn't come up as a choice. Does that mean no TT FPs are available? Suddenly I have 3 tier 2 choices and no tier 1s. What does that do to FPs made under the old system?

The lines at the GMR were so long two weeks ago when I visited we never managed to see that attraction. I have been to WDW lots of times and always at Easter, Christmas week or August (so busy) and never had to wait more than 20 minutes for it using a Touring Plan. May is the quietest time I've ever visited the parks and some of the stand by lines were the longest I have ever seen. That said, FPP worked well for us at Eocot and MK and brilliantly at AK. At DHS it was a train crash.

If you had a pre-existing FP+ for LWTL, you may be able to switch it for Soarin' or TT. I was able to change my LWTL FP+ to Soarin' so I now have Soarin' and TT on the same day! I also switched Turtle talk for Maelstrom now that it's Tier 2. Glad I already booked GMR as a tier 2.

I think this is all gearing up for the new update thats coming. My friend is a cast member who works behind the scenes in fast pass +. Ive posted before about it and will say it again. Supposedly for the next MDE update we will be able to do rolling fast passes. After using one of the ones thats previously booked we will be able to book the next right away and so on so we don't have to wait for the 4th.

The update was supposed to come out in early july now he told me were looking at late july :rolleyes1 I'm just hoping for it before our trip in august :)

I think moving some attractions around in the tiers will help open others up especially for the rolling fast pass. Just my opinion though

Don't forget ETWB. That would be a Tier 1 with A&E and 7DMT.

I like the idea. It'd be nice to be able to have 3 fast passes at any given time. That way, if you have Fantastmic or Illuminations, you can still have other fast passes during the day. Now, make it so I can book them from my phone instead of going to a kiosk and we will really be cooking with gas.

And, I'd like it if you couldn't book fast passes until the day of, but I do believe that will never happen.

I would be soooo happy!!!:flower3:

Interesting thing: if you previously had a tier 2 attraction selected that is now a tier 1, you now can switch it to any other tier 1 attractions, essentially giving you the ability to have multiple tier 1 attractions.

Example: at HS I previously had
Rock N Rollercoaster
Star Tours
Great Movie Ride

Since the update happened, I can change Great Movie Ride to Toy Story Midway Mania, and my Rock N Rollercoaster is still there.

Guess I better go check all my FP+ that I made for our upcoming trip. We leave on 6/21 for 8 days. Just when I thought all was good...

I was able to do that too, at both Epcot and HS. So excited to have Soarin and Test Track back to back!!

The changes are already there from the 16th June. The system is still glitching, try again in 24 hours
