Changes to the "fit" problem at Harry Potter ride

I saw the long thread about this, and I understand that they recently made some changes to accommodate larger body sizes/shapes on the Harry Potter ride. Have they also changed their procedures?

Could someone tell me how it works now when they test you to see if you fit? Is it very discrete or will everyone in your party know? I would hate for the issue to come up when traveling with non-family members.

Is there a private way you can try the seat before even getting in the line?

They do have a seat outside of the castle that you could use, but once inside the line the test comes up like a checkpoint. If they assume you to be too large, they'll pull you aside and have you try the bench they have there.

It's not very discrete, but everyone is minding their own business anyway, being amazed at the castle and what not. Be happy you can ride it! :thumbsup2

You can try the seat outside the castle to determine if you need a modified seat. If you do, you can just tell the attendant at the checkpoint inside that you were tested outside and need a modified seat.
It is a little more discrete that way.
If you are worried about others knowing - you could go check out the seat outside by yourself.

i dont want to seem mean but

i also am a rather large person 6 foot 3 and 150 kilos
i too am worried about fitting into rides
so im doing something about it in the 329 days that i have at my disposal

eating healthy and exercising
i know its hard
trust me i know
just do it

eating healthy sucks for the first week
then it is easy
use painkillers to get you threw the initial headaches and pains

im sitting here after a 2hr walk eating an orange
yeh im hungry most of the time but i dont feel lethargic anymore

good luck either way :thumbsup2

6'3'' and 150 lbs isn't fat - it's actually pretty slender... 18.7 on the BMI charts with anything under 18.5 being underweight. So I'm assuming the 150 was a typo, and in any case congrats on making positive lifestyle changes.

150 KILOS, so roughly 2.2 pounds per kilo means he is 330 pounds.

I gotta say, if fitting on an amusement park ride is what motivates folks to get into better shape, more power to you!

Very true. I did see the TMs pull a few aside and test seat them, but I didn't think anything of it. I was too busy thinking about how awesome the ride was going to be and building my excitement. DH didn't even notice the TMs pulling people aside nor the test seats inside!

I agree. Most people would have no idea what they are even checking for. And really, no one else cares. It doesn't change anyone's feelings toward anyone else....nothing has changed.

We just returned and I didn't see any one tested and there were some pretty large people in the line. I didn't have any problem fitting (I was a bit worried) and the whole thing thing seemed like a non issue. Maybe they were just being discreet but I really didn't notice anything. It was only after about the third time through that I even saw the test seat inside the castle (it is pretty dark in there). I really wouldn't worry too much about it.
