Changes to MK Wishes dessert party-Same Day Reservations

We did the Dessert Party last year (when it was only $29pp) but the tables were allocated and I imagine this will still be the case, there were plenty of desserts and I don't think too difficult to add some extra buffet tables

It doesn't sound like they do assigned seating any more.

I see a table issue here unless the "day guests" are going to be using the tables in the upper level of the balcony area while the pre-booked guests will still get the tablecloth covered seats. If I booked and paid to be there the entire time, got in line to grab a first-come-first-serve table - I sure don't want some shoobie sitting at my table munching cupcakes.

Seriously. So if you book the ADR you give them your money for six months (pre-paid!) with no refund on the day of if it rains etc. But someone can book that day and get a better seat by lining up earlier?

They have to be using the upper tables for this.

I did the dessert party last time. It wasn't crowded, the desserts weren't all that, views were limited (unless you stood - on our particular night - in the rain) Tink didn't fly; I would never do it again. Not worth the money.

Tables are NO longer allocated. They are all pushed closer to railing and NO standing is allowed. You must stay at the table you managed to grab when you arrived ... meaning arrive early or be sitting under the overhang with potential partial view.

You didn't expect them to keep giving it away for "free" when there was an upsell opportunity, did you?
I seriously didn't know that. So both sides closed already. Why the hell r they doing all this. Bi mean kill give them one side to use for cash but both. All that millions spent to redo the hub to make it better. Better to make more money though.

Logistically, it just seems like they are trying too hard on this one. Not sure if it will take off.
Oh they will just use that area for the party I bet. It's way large enough to have table and to watch like over HS for Star Wars and frozen

Is the pre-book price the same as the same day reservations?

They didn't seem to say anything about different pricing. I can see being ticked as ArwenMarie says about paying nonrefundable months ahead and getting edged out, but then again I'd be pretty ticked to pay the same price day-of and find myself treated like a second class citizen.

Looks like it's the same price, I had it booked and canceled bc I didn't like the having to stand in line issue to get
a table with a good view and I didn't want to miss the parade. Now I wish I had kept it since you can just eat and move to the Hub area.

This is just a guess but I'll bet they give the pre- booked people the tables in front and the same day people tables in a different area since they will be moving anyway. They will have to be able to identify the same dayers so they can be sent packing with their cupcakes before the show.

Oh shoot I cancelled our dessert party also because I decided I didnt like the view from the Terrace !

:furious: Wonder how long it took to get back to them that the FP area was indeed more preferable than their upsell on bland cupcakes and a sidelined view with an intrusive roof? Should I be thankful they haven't started charging an upsell on the other most popular FP's yet? And you know what? It worked  As soon as I heard of the demise in Wishes FP's, I was on the phone booking Pirates & Pals for DD's surprise bday trip. Bc like so many others (in which they caught on), she adored our Wishes FP's and I wanted her to have a magical night without being shoved in like sardines 2 hrs before it started :crowded: Heck, as annoyed as I am now that they're revealing their plot; I probably would've lined up to book this if not for already booking the other (wish DIS had a big fat sucker emoji) Hey Disney, we're late to the party having just fallen in love with you a couple of years ago. Where's the honeymoon period? And like any sucker of a parent, of course we'll continue to go now that DD caught the fever. And love it bc of family and a fairytale escape from reality. But until we get back there this August, they're really po'ing me off

As a side note, has anyone been able to book this into October? I'm showing Oct as completely grayed out for the dessert party.

I think it's going to be crowded in there. It was crowded with just the regular reservations. I am glad we did this once and decided never again. Now the Illuminations or Star Wars fireworks party, we would do them again in a heartbeat.

I also cancelled because I thought we might use the money on the Rivers of Light dining package. I give up lol.

Sorry I was hoping for that too but no such luck. Maybe you can spend it on a spa day to help with the stress of planning ! I just booked the early morning fantasyland thing. I know it was my choice but it's really feeling like you have to shell out more and more money just to make sure you get to experience things.

I saw this coming the moment it was announced that Wishes FP+ would be discontinued.

I think it's rather distasteful of Disney to be putting so many of these "extra" events up for sale at nearly the same time...preferred parking, the early morning fantasyland thing, testing the waters for a resort fee, Disney after dark etc. Yes, yes...I get they are a business and can do what they want...and that these are all optional add-ons.
