Changes to Garden Grill and LTT

This was the only Character dining for lunch (besides H&V)

Dont wait for them to call you. You call them. Otherwise if you wait to long either A. They will NEVER call you or B. They will call you and when they do, you will have VERY little to choose from for new times and dates. Im gonna tell you all the same thing I said in my ADR thread. If you have a ADR for GG for lunch after October 5th, call Disney Dining and get yourself a new ADR.

Oh yes, I already have a back up reservation. I am just wondering when they will let us know.

I'm glad they're waiting until after the new year...I just made our ADR there for New Year's Eve.

They better increase the food quality then because the characters, not the cuisine, are the big draw! :sad2:

It doesn't make any sense. The place was extremely popular, and people came for the characters not the food. The food was very basic and they must have been making a killing on that restaurant!

I really don't understand this decision, any time we went there or walked past it around dinner time the line was out the door and they were turning people away.

Sad :sad1: We LOVED LTT on our first trip to WDW in February. It was our favorite meal/character experience of the trip. I really wish Disney would explain why they do some of the things they do. I'm thinking it's now a pretty much done deal that I won't be doing the DDP again....I'm glad we hit a ton of character meals when we did.

They will let you know in a timely manner.

Allears just posted it yesterday.

Obviously (from some of the posts here) NOT all, if any, CMs are yet aware of the change.

Disney will contact the first-affected Guests FIRST, and move on from there.

When will they start? Couldn't say - but they WILL do it in advance, on a predetermined or yet-to-be-determined schedule.

The Magic Kingdom definitely needed another full-service restaurant that was not a character experience.

i'm so disappointed to hear this. we went last year and my son had more fun with those characters then any other char meal. chip took my son around the restaurant pulling dale's tail and hiding behind my son. the whole place was laughing! one of our favorite disney memories. the food was just so so, it was the fun we had that made it great!

I think this is great news...I wanted to eat there but I don't really like character meals. Hopefully on my next trip I'll get a chance!

We ate there occasionally. I love characters, but not necessarily during my meal. But we would still have a nice time.
If this move is to turn over tables faster, that will probably work as I suspect there will be less guests dining there. (Has anyone ever seen it busy at lunch when there are no characters?)

Any news if they are changing the menu or the price?? The food is pretty good, but not worth the amount of money for the food alone. We only pay the price it is to see the characters. At least they will still be there when we go in Dec, but it may be our last visit to LTT :sad2:

I wish they would do this with the restaurant in the castle. Just one meal without the princesses, preferably dinner, would be so nice. :rolleyes1

I'm very upset about this as it is my daughters, (and my) favorite character meal!
I remember going to this restaurant before it became a character meal. It had a very nice a la carte menu of traditional American fare and it was very good.
However, I cannot imagine going there for the family style dinner that is served now without the characters. The food is not good enough to stand on its own - characters are the big draw here now. I can't imagine what they are thinking if the rumors are true that price and menu will remain the same.

In my opinion, this is one of the best character meals on Disney property. My DD is 4 and the last few years we have been doing lots of character meals. The interaction here was the best, we saw each character at least twice during each of our meals here.

And while I'll admit that the Crystal Palace had better food than I would have expected (we're not buffet people), the character interaction was awful! Pooh didn't even come over to us and we had to get the waiter to ask him to come to our table, long after our check arrived. (The same thing happened to us at Hollywood and Vine.) It makes me believe that the buffets don't lend themselves very well to character meals because you get up to get your food and wind up missing the characters! So, that being the case, I think if one needs to be changed, they should change Crystal Palace to a non-character meal and leave Liberty Tree Tavern alone!

And, how in the world can the Magic Kingdom not have a character meal with any of the classic characters?

I'll be really interested to see what happens after this change happens. I hope it comes back to bite them!
