Changes to Fantasmic Dinner Package?

Does anyone have the details for the changes for the Fantasmic Dinner Package?

There is no longer a prefixed price for the Mama Melrose and Brown Derby Fantasmic package. Does anyone know how this works? Since it mentions a la carte selections for these two, essentially, do we still have to order appetizer, entree and dessert or can we just order what we want?

Well, a few points...allears is a volunteer site, and does not have official information. It has been known to post "news" and "updates" that are not news, and not correct...so take the news on there with a grain of salt. Second, when I booked our Fantasmic package for September, I was quoted the same fixed price and same info as when I booked our May 2009 package. (I booked for Sept.on June 6) Third, we've done the package 3 times in the last 14 months, and twice was at Mama Melrose - including just one month ago. There was no special fixed price menu -- we ordered "ala carte" off the regular menu in Sept. 2008 & May 2009 - it was our choice of app, entree and dessert off the regular menu for the dinner package fixed price. We were not limited to certain areas of the menu nor to a special menu.

But, just in case there may really be a change, I have sent an email to Disney asking about the reported change.

And I have also made it a point to read dining reviews from people using the regular dining plan that have been posted for dates since June 1, 2009, waiting for someone who has used the dining plan with the dinner package to see if they do anything differently since June 1.

Disboarder MHalpern recently posted a review of Mama Melrose on the Fantasmic Dinner Package and specifically mentioned the appetizer as being really bad so I directly asked was the appetizer included in the dining package, and the response was yes, the appetizer was included, same as before. Mhalpern's WDW vacation started well after June 1, 2009.

So, looks like it has not changed. Which is not to say that it won't change...but does really look like the "news" is not news...

Thanks for the info. I will admit that it didn't sound like it was correct since no one seems to have had reports of this. I think if it did change there would be at least two or three of them stating the change. But I thought I'd ask, just in case. We have gotten the Fantasmic package at Mama Melrose at least twice per visit (about 4 times per year for a few years now). It hasn't changed. But you never know.

I sent an email to Disney as well. However, I thought it may be faster to get a response from here. I still haven't received a reply from them yet.

well I got my email reply from Disney, and I think I found out why allears.net is wrong so often, lol. The Disney info quoted in the email is even more outdated than the allears version! Disney guest relations email says:
"Tier 2 - Mama Melrose's Price: Dinner Adult: $32.99 Meal includes One Wood-fired Flatbread to share,family style salad, choice of entree and Mama's signature Fantasmic! Tiramisu for dessert. BEVERAGES NOT INCLUDED "

Wow, this has not been served at Mama Melrose for Fantasmic package for a long, long, time! I don't know exactly when they quit serving it that way, but I do know that early September, 2008, we had our choice of appetizers, entree & dessert & a non-alcoholic beverage -there was no set appetizer/no family serving sizes...and that was more than 9 months ago, and we had the same again in May 2009. If allears is sending emails to Disney guest relations to get the "official" word there's no way they will have the current/correct info on their site. Well, so much for getting the info from the source, huh.

Guess it just shows once again that for true, up-to-date info we're better off checking with Disboarders

I do remember having that menu a long time ago, I don't remember when but October 2003 rings a bell. But I can't be sure. I don't recall being offered that more than once. I've just been remembering choosing our own. I wish I kept all the receipts from back then, then I'd know exactly when.

Anyways, thanks for posting the update. I guess we'll just have to wait until someone goes there and mentions a change...if there is a change. I may just get the same response as you did and...well...I guess it's better to get it from here than from Disney themselves .

My guess is that they went to the regular menu around 2006. We had the package in April 2007, and I remember prior to my trip there still being a lot of confusion over what you got.

I find it hard to believe that they will no longer be fixed-price, or at the very minimum have ordering requirements. Otherwise wouldn't people be booking the "package" for Fantasmic seating then only ordering something really inexpensive (by Disney standards)?

Thanks for your scoop and time in this as we do have a MM "F" booked in Sept and info on this is all over the place.........

I agree that our fellow DIS'ers are more correct and have the scoop on info and seem to be much better then most of the cast members Disney has working for them!!!

wowzer, didn't realize that Fantasmic dinner info was from 2-3 years ago...that's even worse than I thought!

I did reply to the guest services email suggesting nicely they may want to check directly with the restaurant before giving that completely out-dated info to anyone else...and suggesting that they make it possible for guests to check directly with the restaurants (instead of getting central phone centers when we call...where the castmembers are working off out-dated information such as the email's info.)

Thanks to mhalpern for giving us a current dining review (although they didn't have the best food at MM, at least they were able to report that it's still app/entree/dessert of your choice.) I'll just continue to watch dining reviews for indications of any changes before September -- we'll be there the week after Labor Day. DH says even if they change the menu for no apps, we're still ordering the calamari for two...we really like it!
