We just received our copy of the Disney Dining Experience newsletter yesterday and noticed that in addition to an increase in the price for passholders ($60), Disney no longer will provide a complimentary secondary membership card. If you want a secondary membership card, it will cost $25.

We entertain our friends at Disney a lot. And since the cardholder must be present to get the 20 percent DDE discount, the value of the secondary membership for us is that my wife can use her card to take friends, family and visitors to Disney restaurants when I have to work or am out of town. Now, though, Disney wants to charge us $25 for something that previously was free.

Certainly, the change in the secondary membership card policy will mostly affect Orlando locals, but I'm so tired of Disney chipping away at all the nice little perks for the people who support them on a year-round basis.

I think the $25 for a second card stinks too...I wonder if now you can have the 20% for 20 people since you are paying something for an additional card.

I also think the Florida resident card should be the same price.

I don't understand why so much for the second card. Like you stated it was free last year and now all of sudden it is worth $25.00.

It really stinks. Now I wish I would have eaten the last couple of months on my current card and just renewed before the end of the year.

I was wondering the same thing. I have no need for it since I'm the only "grownup" in our family....

I have yet to have them check my ID or annual pass when I use the card. But I guess then I always pay with a debit card that has my name, which matches my DDE card.pirate:

Why the extra $25 for the second card? Guest we will get bye with one card.

It'll cut down on our overall visits to Disney restaurants, but we'll make due with one card, too. I think DDE is a great value, but I can't imagine anyone paying $25 for an additional card.
