i haven't done it recently, but i did a number of years back...
the plane was much more crowded than i'd expected......i hadn't taken into consideration how many people there are who don't celebrate Christmas - our plane was PACKED with Indian families......lots and lots of kids....so many more kids than i'd hoped for....

but the airplane crew, both cockpit and cabin, were in very good spirits and treated the passengers especially nicely....lots of good cheer....and even some actual spirits were passed around free of charge....

the airport itself was pretty quiet as i recall, but crossing immigration took longer than usual, since there were fewer immigration officers than usual on duty..

however, i remember it as a pretty good experience overall..
i wouldn't hesitate to fly on christmas again...

We fly Xmas day. Are you going from Manchester with Virgin? we are there for 9 nights staying at Fairfield Inn Marriott village.
We have flown either Xmas day or Boxing day for the past 7 years (except this year, stayed at home and was ill:sick: so not staying at home again:rotfl: ) no different to any other day really.

we are going from manchester but with tcd unfortunatly lol

Might get chance to say hi in the airport, Our flight is 10:35. Not sure if they use same terminal without looking.

You wouldn't have known it was Christmas Day with BA except for a 'Ho Ho Ho' from the pilot and something that was attempting to be turkey with stuffing and sprouts for lunch.

I was amazed that the flight was full

There are 1000's of people like myself that own businesses or work in retail that have to work upto close of business Xmas eve, Xmas day is the 1st day we can fly to maximize school hols. I suspect thats why the Xmas day flights are always full.

Makes sense - I guess the sudden drop in price encourages the rest of us too :goodvibes

we flew that day because it was much cheaper than the days around it..
i also innocently thought it wouldn't have as many kids - stupid me..

by the way, it was BA.....

As I say we fly Xmas day this year, if we had flown day before but still for 9 nights it added £125pp. Virgin holidays have always dropped in price Xmas day thankfully. After discounts and cashbacks paid about £575 each for flighst and hotel for 9 nights, might have got it a little cheaper booking separate but took the easy option for this trip.

Can't always depend on the weather being 'nice and warm' LOL

Take a hat, coat and gloves just in case :)

We are flying xmas day this year with Virgin but we fly from gatwick. Yes it was considerably cheaper than a few days before. It is also my DH birthday that day, so will have to arrange a cake on the plane for him, seeing as he's the biggest kid of all:rotfl2: Can't wait and I also thought that I might be a bit quieter, how wrong we all are. See you all there:cool1:
