I changed cabins about 2 weeks ago for my upcoming cruise. Yesterday I received our luggage tags and the paper with it had our old cabin listed. We are taking DCL transportation from the airport. I know the porters at PC have extra tags, but will we use a porter since we are on DCL bus? Should I call and ask for new tags? I don't want our luggage being delayed getting to our cabin. Thanks

They have blank tags at the airport before you get on the DCL bus. (We booked our last cruise a week before sailing and a pair of employees at the airport wrote up a stack of luggage tags for us while we were checking in.)

i would just cross off the old room number and write the new one on the tag. And then when you get to the ship just tell the porter what happened

Yeah just grab a Sharpie and cross it out. They're not a sophisticated RFID tracking system, it's just visual.

I don't know if I agree with that advice. In the first place, if you are taking the DCL bus to the port, you won't be dealing with a porter, you don't touch the luggage after giving it to them at the airport until it shows up at the hallway outside of your room. (So you can't talk to a porter). 2nd, I remember a bar code on the tag. If they just scan the bar code, it is going to reflect the original room and might be put into a pile that is going to a different part of the ship. You would EVENTUALLY get the bag, but it might take longer when the bar code does not match the room number.
There is no downside to just getting new tags at the airport, so why try to 'game' the system??

Have you seen the "new tags at the airport"? They're just neon strips of sticky paper. There's no sophisticated bar code or anything like that to route them to your room. They get to your room by crew members reading the number with their eyeballs. Nobody is gaming any system.

Can you get new tags at the cruise port? I also got tags with the wrong number on them, and I'm not using DCL transportation.

I still have a few weeks, so I think I'll call to see if they can send me new ones. If not, I'll get some at the airport like you did. Thanks

Yes...we actually never received luggage tags as we booked too close to sail date to have them sent out so we just asked the porter at the port and he wrote our cabin number on a white tag and adhered it to our bags

If you book DCL transfers doesn't DCL take your bags right off the baggage carousel at the airport and bring it directly to the ship via truck or has that changed? Or, do you have claim your bags and bring them yourself to the DCL bus?

Don't the luggage tags still have the bar code on them? That's the important part, moreso than what's written. Yes, you can use a Sharpie to cross-out the old room and write in the new room number. The bar code should direct your luggage to the new room automatically anyway.

Our last cruise we didn’t receive our luggage tags in time and got them at the port. However like others have mentioned since you are taking disney transport you should be able to get blank ones at the airport.

For my 2/19/22 sailing, I used the tags they mailed to me. I used a Sharpie to cross out the old stateroom and write in the new stateroom that DCL had moved us to. Got all three bags without any issues.

They've become pretty good at delivering luggage, I think. Last month, I booked a last-minute cruise (we booked Friday for a Monday sailing), so I got white, hand-written tags from a porter at PC (because you can't book DCL transfers that close to sailing). Then I actually changed rooms at the terminal after checking in, invalidating the porter tags. But, my luggage still made it to the right place and it was on time, too!
