Hello Everyone,

After reading so many comments on O'Hanas menu changing, I decided to cancel out the ADR I was holding. For a few dollars more, we are now going to do Chef Mickey's instead.

I think the food for some of the family members will be more appealing at Chef Mickey's.

I have not been to CM in a while, any comments from some fellow Disney fans??

Thank you!!!

For what it's worth, we went to 'Ohana last week and it was great. We were with another family, and we had such a great time. The kids had fun hula dancing and racing w/coconuts. The service was alittle slow, but everyone really enjoyed the food. I was also skeptical from hearing reviews here before we left, but we decided to go and I was very glad we did. Everyone went crazy over the dessert, but, by that time everyone was too full to really enjoy it. Chef Mickey's is fun for the kids, we aren't too crazy about the menu, but the atmosphere is great. I'm sure you'll have fun no matter what you do.

Well, it's nice to hear a good review on O'Hanas. I was worried because of all the negative comments. My biggest conern now is the type of food. I have a picky eater and was thinking that he might now like the food there, that's why I switched to Chef Mickey's. What was the dessert?

Thanks!

While I'm a bit concerned by the menu changes at Ohana, I would never change from Ohana to Chef Mickey. The food quality just isn't even close as far as I'm concerned. Chef Mickey's is a true buffet, with buffet quality food. Sometimes its cooler than I'd like, sometimes its been sitting out for a while, just not "great food". When I go to Chef Mickey's isn't for the atmosphere.

Ohana on the other hand usually has good food. There isn't a lot of selection, but the food you get is well prepared and served warm/cold as required. The meats are generally fresh and the apps have never tasted "old".

If you want a different kind of meal, then by all means, switch to Chef Mickey's, but don't think the food will be better.

The dessert is a big square of bread pudding, which is very rich and good with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream on top and on the side they give you a small pitcher with caramel and banana sauce to put on top. Everyone LOVED it!!!

Thanks for all the info. We've eaten the dinner buffett at Chef Mickey's and liked it alot.....the food was nothing to write home about, but we were there for the atmosphere, which is great. We do have an ADR for 'Ohana's during our upcoming trip (46 DAYS :Pinkbounc ) We will be celebrating my DH's 40th birthday. Looking forward to trying someplace new.

I'm sad to hear the negative reviews lately, because we went for one of the first nights of the new menu and it was fantastic. It was much better than it had ever been, and all of the changes were great and in just the right direction.

I'd switch back to 'Ohana over Chef Mickey's, CM is nothing to write home about.

Edit: hehehe, I didn't even notice that you used the exact phrase in the post above mine.

We just got back and I really enjoyed CM for breakfast. I did not care for the dinner. Character interaction was great at both meals but I did not care for there dinner food.

We ate at 'Ohana on Saturday evening.....and it was delish :earsgirl: ! I was nervous because of the negative posts, but kept it, and man am I glad we did. We had a party of 13, and the service started out slow at 10:00pm, but they had been busy!!! It was soooooo good :goodvibes ! The shrimp, the wings, the steak, the turkey..........and the dessert was superb ::MickeyMo ! I was so sad about not getting the pineapple and carmel sauce, but the banana bread pudding and sauce was just fabulous! The pineapple in the shrimp bowl ( I think that's where some were ) were divine :) . I would love to go back...........the dining plan was such a great treat :earsboy: :earsgirl: !

We too ate at 'Ohana last week and enjoyed our meal. My daughter was a big fan of the old shrimp and adjusted quite well to the new dish. The key was of course remembering to say - "May I have some more shrimp please". Although the chicken was a bit sticky for my liking the hot cloth cleaned my fingers up nicely. I would always pick 'Ohana over Chef Mickey, but if you are doing only one buffet/family style meal, I think the decision should be between 1900 PF and Boma's.

We tried Ohana's last week and like many posters comments it is GOOD FOOD especially compared to CM. I was not overly impressed with CM's food but its a fun place for character interaction.

Side Note: Ohana's New Dessert: TO DIE FOR...
