Change to which resort instead of VGC?

We live in the West and have owned at VGC for quite a while. We have pushed and rescheduled a trip originally planned for May 2020 3 times now and I don't think by May 2021 Disneyland will be open yet.

With that in mind we are going to switch and go to WDW sometime late in March. We have been to WDW, but have never stayed with DVC there.

What resort (if available) do you think we should stay at? We will most likely visit all the parks, and will stay in a 1BR and do a lot of our own cooking.

Thanks for the input.

Well, I've stayed at every DVC in WDW. Theres not one that I wouldn't go back to. They're all great and each has their pros and cons. So you really can't go wrong. Our favorite DVC is BWV. My least favorite is SSR. My 2nd favorite is probably Jambo house AKL but NOT right now. Nothing is open and thats a deal breaker for us. WL is the closest to VGC if you want something similar asthetic wise. However, CCV has very small kitchens so i would steer clear of those.. BRV has larger kitchens.. OKW has a lot of charm and huge 1 bedrooms with large kitchens that are easier to cook in. I hope that somewhat helps. I'm sure if 10 people chime in, you'll get 11 different answers.

I’m going to say Kidani Savannah view. That’s something totally different than you’ll see in CA.... but you will still have two bathrooms!

I would second AKV Kidani. It’s an destination in itself. Only downside is it’s far from the parks other than AK. Staying BWV or BCV will give you waking access to both EP and HS.

VGC owners too here--- WDW April to get our fix -- So we have Jambo for April. Why Kidani over Jambo?

Currently Jambo is only open to DVC. The restaurants there are not open. There is a small grab and go The Mara there buts that’s it. I’d check the hours though. Only the pool is open. Kidani at least has Sanaa open. Jambo is definitely less busy and more quiet if that’s what you prefer. It could change though by April.

And the Jambo 1BR master bathroom is arguably the worst layout/functionality of any DVC. (Jambo studios are typical DVC studios, and the Jambo GV looks amazing!)

The kidani and BLT 1 bedrooms both have the 2 full baths like VCG. Jambo does not.

I would vote for BLT or BWV (or perhaps a split stay between the two). Then, plan your MK days for the days you are at BLT and your HS and EP days for the days you are at BWV. This will save you transportation time between your hotel and the park. I really like the layout of the BLT 1br (and the second full bath!), but if I had to choose between the two, I would go with BWV because of the location and being able to walk to 2 parks.

You can’t go wrong with any of the resorts but I also vote AKV kidani it’s so unique and very relaxing. And I would rent a car it’s much easier to get around quickly and to pick up groceries.

BWV may not make the best 1st impression right now because most of the dining/entertainment on the Boardwalk is closed.
The closures may not matter as much, if planning to cook in the villa, but should be considered.

Thanks for all the great input.

We ended up going with a 1BR savanna at Kidani. Anyone have room number recommendations? or does it even matter?

Touring plans has a great room search feature that shows the views, I'd look there!

The prototypical request is 1) Sunset savanna (large savanna shared with Jambo, has giraffes) most savanna view rooms are on Sunset. The smaller Pembe savanna looks more like a farm pen, and has Okapi (marvelous creatures, but not the “wow” of giraffe.
2) low floor (closer to animals, less likely to see tree tops) 3) near lobby (Kidani has the longest hallway of any WDW resort (I think 1/3 mile). Most rooms are close to parking because the parking garage is under the resort with multiple elevators down)
