I hope it's ok if I put a question over here, I like to get as many opinions as possible.
ok, we have a res at a moderate, but the poly keeps pulling at me.......like the monorail and being so close to MK, with a 7 yo and a 4 yo who want to make a beeline to Toontown fair.
so hubby said grudgingly if I want to change and spend "more money" "a thousand more dollars" his emphasis on the thousand.........go ahead.
so he leaves it up to me. so if it isn't a completely magical experience I will never hear the end of it.........LOL
decisions decisions. I have to decide quick as we are close to our trip date.
any opinions out there?

I 1st ready this and hestitated w/ the "a thousand more dollars" ... but then I thought, if he's already given the "okay" even half hartedly.. GO FOR IT! run, don't walk, before he changes his mind.

Just remember the phrase "Well you told me I could." :-)

That phrase is a gold mine right there! Hold onto it as long as you can. My opinion, if this is your 1st or 2nd trip down with the kids, and they haven't stayed on property before, I would say go for it, make it as special as you can. If you've stayed on property before, I would say no, and horde what extra money you were going to spend by upgrading on a breakfast with characters if they like that, or even on the food choices throughout the park.
If you're still indecided, let me make it clear in one word: Melekelikimaka! (Should that be two words?!) *Shrugs* Go for it! LOL.

Well the draw of the monorail resort is nice, but it's still a hike from the lobby to the rooms.

I think if I had kids that age and the money, I would do it, but I would pick the contemporary tower.

Well I did it!! aaahh I am so excited, yep its an absurd amount of money.......LOL......but I think it will be fun!!
mickeyfan, the CR appeals only for the location and that mickey shaped pool, I don't care for the other stuff though, i kind of like the "resort" feel of different buildings........hopefully I will get my requested building, I asked for an interior longhouse, i wanted quiet but not too far from everything......and want fairly close to one of the pools......hopefully not too much to ask!
I will never hear the end of it if we get stuck somewhere we don't want!!

I think you'll enjoy your stay there. It's been several years since I've stayed there, but I always loved it. After we came back from the parks, it was like coming home.....but to a themed home. :lmao: Some hotels make you feel like you're staying at a place where you go to because you need some place to sleep, but the Poly always felt like it was a part of the whole vacation experience. I always found it relaxing, even in the lobby. We always used to ask for the exact same criteria that you asked for, and every time they've put us in "Fiji", and I was always more than happy to stay in there.

If anyone complains to you about making your reservations at the Poly, just ignore them. :rolleyes1

OMG, if the man will even entertain the idea of paying to upgrade to the Poly, go for it! We loved it and I would love to make that our destination of choice everytime, but realistically, that's not going to happen. We are moderate and value dwellers. I prefer to save the money and stay longer rather than blow it all on a "quick trip" down. I say, if you can afford it, then by all means, go and enjoy. Maggie
