Change reservation from AoA to Coronado?

Upon watching the review of Coronado Springs, I'm considering switching over. I already contacted an agent and they calculated the difference would be under $200. I've always thought this was a beautiful resort, but stayed away because I heard this construction has been a doozie....based off the review the podcast just released, it didn't seem to be disturbing the resort too much.

What are your thoughts?

Art of animation looks very fun, but Coronado Springs was our first choice. I'm a little torn.

I didn't even get to comment before you switched, but I was going to say to anyway! It sounds like the construction at CBR is much worse than at CSR. I personally don't like the AoA resort that much for what they charge to stay there.

I watched last night and was really blown away by the rooms. I stayed at CSR years ago and wasn't a fan so I haven't been back, but that review is really making me reconsider.

Thanks everyone! I talked to an agent yesterday and the difference between AoA and CS was less than $200! I was like, okay, I'm sold. We requested a remodeled room, fingers crossed we get it

CSR is my favourite resort at WDW (but I never stayed at a deluxe resort). I think you made the right choice. We stating in the Rancho section and loved the snack bar at the pool for breakfast, lunch and to refill our mugs.

Just a heads up that not every room is like the refurbished ones shown in the video. You may wind up with one that’s waiting to be done still. From what I’ve read they are still nice though!

Are you sure it wasn't Caribbean Beach you heard about? Caribbean Beach has had some of the most intrusive construction in recent years, with amenities like the food court and store being unavailable for periods of time. It was so intrusive, gift cards were offered to guests during a period of time last year to entice people to stay there.

CSR on the other hand is not having any major disruptions to guest amenities. Food court, pool, store, lounges, etc. are all open as usual. The tower construction near Cabanas is there but shouldn't impact your stay, and the room refurbishments are closing buildings at a time, so that shouldn't impact you either. We booked a stay at CSR for October and booked a preferred room - it will guarantee us a refurbished room because the Casitas buildings will be done by then, and it will be across the lake from the construction.

Oh good to know! I just put in a request for a refurb, should I ask for preferred?

PP is correct, you have to book a preferred room and its an up-charge from a standard room. But its the only way to guarantee a room that is both refurbished and away from the construction, so we felt it was worth the extra cost. The rooms are also adjacent to El Centro and close to the bus stop that is first pick-up and first drop-off.

Do you recall how large of an upcharge it was? I booked and budgeted our stay for AoA originally, so even tho the change was relatively affordable, I'm not sure if I could swing an additional couple hundred.

When are you traveling? For the time period we are going, it was about another $70ish per night for a preferred room. Rates vary so its really date specific. If you wanted to switch to a preferred room, you'd have to call in and modify your reservation to a preferred room and it would be based on availability. To get an idea of the cost, you could also do a mock reservation through the Disney site. Just select the preferred room and same number of tickets, if applicable.

I'm going to call and see what it would cost. Thanks for the suggestion!
