Thanks! Are you asking for real? If so, 8 Hour Day is what the union workers fought for...8 hours of work, 8 hours of play, 8 hours of sleep.

And for the next 2 weeks, I don't have to stay up till odd hours to catch you. It's still only 9.25 pm here ...and then we go back an hour at the end of the month.

Thanks for the explanation. So is Labor Day, Canberra Day and Eight Hours Day all essentially the same holiday, but in different regions of Australia?

Yes...most of the states have had the same public holiday, just different names, today. I had a great day. Before Victoria officially called it Labour Day, we used to have Moomba Day Holiday. Moomba is an aboriginal word...best we can work out....means Lets all get together and have fun! I've been to the carnival rides and fireworks (Saturday night); watching the Birdman Rally (Sunday) where people run off a ramp, try to fly but really crash into the Yarra River; and today I went to the parade. I've been working on my photos...should have them ready by the end of the week and I plan to post on the Dis (probably my TR). I'll let you know when they are up, if you're interested.
