Hi everyone,
I have been meaning to ask this question. I am facing a pretty good possibility of losing my job. If this happens, I hate to cancel our cruise, but may have to postpone it. If we do, will we get to keep our rebooking credits?

Amanda,
I don't have an answer, but I just wanted to say I hope you do not lose your job - I really hope you do not have to cancel!

Karen

You and me both Karen! But I am hoping for the best, and preparing for the worst. When did y'all rebook for?

Amanda, prayers are being said so that God will allow only the best for your interest to happen.

Next, I think you can use them later at a non-Disney property but not past their expiration date. We have to use ours before 1 Sept or lose them, hence our April cruise. A downfall with the DVC points, but I understand the necessity of rules/regulations for it.

Take care,
Rae

Hi Dzneprincess

So sorry to hear about the possible job loss - fingers crossed here!!!

You can keep your current rebooking credits as long as you change the dates on your current reservation - not if you cancel and then rebook. To put it another way, the rebooking credits will 'follow' your reservation as long as you keep the same confirmation number from Disney as the original.

If you are unsure if and when you would ever be able to cruise again, my advise would be to hold a cruise for some time in late 2004 - far enough away that you do not need to worry about your final payment being due. You can then reasses your situation at that time to see if you can afford to travel or not. If not you can change the dates again.

You should check any and all information you received from DCL to make sure it doesn't expire.

I can tell you that I know some folks who have changed their reservation from a cruise in early 2004 (what they originally rebooked while on the ship) to a 2005 sail date that recently opened up and they will still get the rebooking credit.

Again, please check all your information from DCL for any restrictions.

When I changed my cruise date (at the last minute), I paid only a $25 per person "re-ticketing fee." All else stayed the same. When I booked my currently scheduled cruise, I was quoted the standard "may re-schedule with 60 days notice....."

Call DCL or your TA to be sure.

Thanks y'all. I knew you would have the answer! Rae and Karen, I appreciate the prayers and good thoughts. I know that everything happens for a reason, and just hope that since I finally have a job that I enjoy, that it will not be taken away:(

Amanda - with the economy and uncertain times, we all need all the prayers we can get/give!!

Still remember how much fun we had on the Halloween trick or treat cruise! It was sooooo much fun! Again, thanks to you and Ginger for all that extra work - you really made it great for our kids (unlike the mass hysteria of the DCL hunt!)

Hugs,
Rae

I agree the DCL hunt was laughable at best. I am glad y'all had fun. I dont know if I mentioned or not, but I did attend the DVC presentation, but with the uncertainty of my job, I did not think it a wise decision to buy in at this time :(
