Change of clothes for Jiko?

right now I am planning on making an ADR for Jiko after our day at Animal Kingdom so we can go right over from the park. Are we ok to wear our park clothes or should we bring a change of nicer clothes? It will be me and my DD9.

Jiko has a "business casual" dress code. You'll probably want to wear jeans, a skirt, or dress shorts with a blouse or sweater (or an informal dress). Nothing too fancy, but a little nicer than the typical theme park attire.

We are planning to do the same thing, going straight from AK to Jiko for dinner. We're going to bring a small bag with a change of clothes for all of us and rent a locker for the day. I figure we may be wet (from a ride) or hot/sweaty, or our kids may be dirty and it will feel good to change into clean, dry clothes for dinner.

Thanks...I tend to try and look nice when we go out to dinner, so was planning on bringing a change of clothes but wanted to double check.

I would bring a change it's nicer in there than the regular resturants.

Just to point out that you do not HAVE to change. Don't be suprised if you see other diners in theme park cloths.
Can't recall seeing many ladies at Jiko in a dress or a skirt.

oh I know...I was thinking of throwing some basic cotton sundresses in our bag so we can change, feel a little cleaned up and look a little nicer. I don't mind...I prefer dressing for dinner a little and I am very excited to eat at Jiko. My DD not so much...but I think we are doing...what...5 CHARACTER MEALS that week...mommy gets one nice dinner

It looks like you're going end of May?

I can tell you right now that from May to October, I look/feel the worst after a day at AK than any other park.

You will not be denied entry, but you probably will want to freshen up just for your own comfort. It is just SO sweltering there.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing in May, and I'm talking about changing my clothes as well as doing a little "repair" work on my hair and makeup before dinner. This will be a special anniversary dinner for hubby and I, so I want to look nice, but it's going to be too far to drive to the (offsite) resort we'll be staying at.

I so agree! By lunchtime on my AK days, I feel like a total mess. Its the hottest and biggest park and it shows in the way I look after aday there!

I changed for Boma one night (not for a dress code but just because I can't stand having a sit down dinner in my park clothes ) and I used the restroom at AKL. There was a very nice one just off the lobby. It worked out perfectly for me.

Congratulations to all of you who make the effort to "freshen up" and dress nicer for the more upscale restaurants. Many people forget that the diners themselves are also a part of the decor. As someone who dines out often, I just wanted to say thanks.

oakmanner: Probably not in living memory. But the actual " not permitted" items are so few that it's hard to imagine anyone showing up that way.

We have went to Jiko straight from the park and went back and changed.

You are good to go either way, as long as you aren't wearing swimwear.

DH and I went there for our Anniversary dinner and we were dressed up, we left the park and back to our room to shower and change for dinner. Well....I would say that MOST people there were in park attire. You will not have a problem at all going from the park to the restaurant.

My opinion on signature restaurants is that the later you dine, the nicer you see people dress. If you go right from AK to Jiko, I imagine that you have an early ADR, therefore you'll definitely see people dressed more casually. I tend to make my ADR's, especially for signatures around 730-8. When I eat, there are people who are in khakis, skirts, sundresses, etc. The people who are leaving when I'm being seated tend to be the ones in jeans. Just something I've picked up on

You certainly don't HAVE to change but if you don't mind throwing a sundress and pair of sandals in a bag then go for it. Changing clothes always makes me feel refreshed. You can also check your bag with bell services after changing so you don't have to lug it around. Take some time after dinner to walk around and enjoy the resort.
