Change of clothes after Kali River Rapids ride?

My friends just got back from WDW, and their day at AK was ruined because they got totally soaked on the Kali River Rapids ride early in the day. They were then chilly, uncomfortable, and finally left the park early so they could change. This would definitely ruin my day as well. Has anyone brought a change of clothes just in case, and stored them in a day locker? Are the lockers near the entrance, and does anyone know the cost of a day rental? Thanks for your help!!!

I don't know the answer about the lockers but what we did to avoid being drenched was to wear our rain parkas. We had the cheap ones from Walmart but it worked well.

When you get off the ride and come back around their is a bathroom by a big fountain and inside is some VERY powerfull dryers, when i went in people were drying their soaked wet sneakers and clothes and it worked great on my white t-shirt that became see-through when wet (duh)..

Definately wear your Teva sandals or some other water sandals on your AK day. Not sure where the lockers are, but in the other parks they are usually near the ticket gate, but just never noticed them at AK. At the other parks it is about $7 to rent a big locker, and you get two dollars back when you return the key.

You can get soaked, and it is truly uncomfortable if the weather is cool. We save the ride for our last ride before we head back to the resort.

Of course--some think part of the fun on this ride IS getting wet!!
And if you are there in summer, not a real problem. We're usually quite dry again an hour or so later---

My DH and I do not like to get wet, but our DD really wanted to ride, so she wore her swimsuit with some windshorts and a t-shirt. When she got ready to ride, we had her flip flops in the backpack and took off the t-shirt. (Her swimsuit top was a tankini.) She dried out really fast.

We usually make sure we're wearing wash n wear type shorts that will dry quickly. My main thing is my feet! I stuff a walmart sack or the like in my fanny pack, with a few paper towels and when we get in the ride we take our shoes and socks off, put them in the sack and store them in the center. There's plenty of time to do that before you get wet, but after you sit down as they won't let you board it barefoot. Then when the wet part is over, we dry off our feet with the paper towels, put our shoes and socks back on, get off the ride and throw the sack away.

When we went to Universal and stayed on site we all wore bathing suits (the teens under t-shirts and mine was one of those Land's End "jogger" type suits so it looked like a tank top and shorts) and just did all the wet rides as much as we wanted to at IOA and then went to Curious George's at Universal before heading back to the hotel to change. That's easier to do there though!

If it's not a pretty warm day, I would skip Kali. It's a lot of fun, but logistically kind of a problem if you can't dry out quickly(especially the shoes).

Maybe you can make it the last ride of the day that way you won't have to worry about the wet clothes/shoes ... :)

Ahhhh but that long sticky wet walk back to the front of the parks.....encouraged a blister on my foot!

You can no longer ride this without your shoes on! They have put up signs all over to keep your footwear on. DH thought he could sneak them off once we got on board, but they have another CM checking right before you start the ride. She stopped the whole loading process so my "beet-red faced" DH could put his sneakers back on!

MaryKatesMom - go to Teva.com to check these out. They are so comfortable to walk in, and they are fine for getting wet!

Our plan is always the same. Carry a clean dry shirt and a couple of pairs of dry socks for each of us in ziploc bags inside the backpack. We carry the 2/$1 ponchos from Dollar Tree everyday. I also carry a couple of empty gallon sized ziploc bags to store the ponchos in also. We put on the ponchos before we ride the ride. If we are wet after the ride, we just change our shirts or socks. If you wear the ponchos, your shorts are 80% of the time pretty safe. Maggie

We do the same thing; they work pretty well. Only my shoes get a little wet. DH started spraying SCOTCHGUARD on everything, including his shoes and fanny pack, and it worked VERY well. Give it a try!

How is this plan? We will have our backpack loaded cheap flip flops and $1.00 rain ponchos from Dollar tree, we will also have a plastic trash bag. While in line we plan to trade our tennis shoes to flip flops (while storing the tennis shoes in the backpack), we will also wear our rain ponchos and then put our back pack in the plastic trash bag to keep it from getting too wet. I've never been on KRR (actually I've never been to the AK before) but this is my plan for when we go in May.

Most important is dry shoes & socks after you get off of the ride.
There is nothing worse than walking around in wet footwear all day, not good for your feet either.

I guess we are the only ones that bring the change of clothes. We bring an "extra" backpack and store it in a locker. We do this at every park though. We don't stay on site-- and you just never know. A spilled Coke or someone getting "sick". This way a change is always handy. Anyhow-- the lockers at ALL parks are near the entrance. You get $2.00 back when you turn in the key. We get the backpack out of the locker and take it w/ us to Kali-- we slip off our shoes and put on our flip-flops-- then ride. Afterwards, we change and put back on the sneakers. Usually we try to do this ride at the end of the day so we aren't making a 100 trips to the lockers.
