Change in MM policy for onsite guests

Those of you who hang around this forum long enough will note a couple things:

1. About twice a year there is a thread like this where someone is told (by a Disney CM or a "friend/sister/brother/etc. who was there last week") that MM is no longer being offered to DLR hotel guests or is being reduced somehow.

2. About twice a year there is a thread that someone heard from a CM that FASTPASS is going to be discontinued

Disney CMs tend to be very knowledgeable about a very narrow area. If they venture outside that area they often do not know that much. I still remember the well-meaning CM at WDW's MK Jungle Cruise who told me not to bother going over to Splash Mountain because "Splash Mountain always closes at dusk". I knew that was false but was amazed a CM that works a few hundred yards away from Splash Mtn would think that.

If something is important to me I and I am unsure then I ask a CM and then I ask another CM to see if I get the same story.

I thought anyone who bought a 3 day or more park hopper was entitled to MM each day it was available during their visit?

This is our first time not staying onsite so I'd like to know. MM is 2 of the mornings we're there...

- If one buys a 3 day (or more) park hopper (& are staying offsite) they are entitled to ONE Magic Morning.

- If staying ON SITE....they are entitled to Magic Morning each day that they stay on site (including the day of departure AND the day of arrival). Doesn't matter how many days, nor does it matter if it's a park hopper or not.

So if you're not staying onsite, you'll only get ONE day MM.


(I'm assuming getaway or other agencies aren't running their 2 MM special anymore?)

When in doubt....refer to DLR's MM superthread (which he updates daily if needed).


& to all reading......I assure that the VERY FIRST time we confirm that multi day MM is taken away from onsite DLR guests, it will be a MONSTER thread & will be discussed HEAVILY here.

Hydroguy is right....every 6 mos. or so, a CM or AAA or someone's nephew's friend announces that MM is only available once for onsite guests. IMO...Absolutely take it with a grain of salt until there is solid confirmation here of this.

Well ... to be completely accurate ... the "reports" sometime state that DLR hotel guest will get ZERO MMs. One reason this never dies is that "another" Disney site actually reported this as news a few years ago and has never removed or edited the page with the misinformation.

The DL Hotels don't really like to publicize that guests can use MM each day it's available. They want to surprise their guests with this perk at time of check-in, so they do not share the knowledge with many other CMs who work reservations, etc.

I remember when they first started having this perk, and in talking to the Package and Room reservations none of the CMs knew about it. After hearing about here on the DIS I called each hotel individually to confirm (which they did).

So, this news is probably more of the same. (hopefully)

This is news to me since we've always stayed @ DLH. I'm glad I found this out before leaving next week!

Oh well, MM is only available 2 out of our 5 day stay anyway.

I really hope this was just a horrible mistake. I know a previous poster called the GCH and verified it as false but it still makes me a little bit paranoid about my upcoming stay at the DLH.

FWIW, it's always been an unadvertised thing; the websites (not even disneyland.com) have never mentioned the perk.


I wonder if Karebear managed to get routed to someone not actually physically in the hotel who just didn't know...the WDTC people don't always know, for instance.

I asked about MM too when I had my AP rate adjusted last night for the Grand and was told the very same thing, that I was able to use MM (the CM actually said "enjoy MM" ) any day of my stay.

I was worried about the same thing as I was told this too when booking my room with the WDTC. But when I called the hotel directly this morning, they confirmed that we would just use our room key for Magic Morning.

I think the difference in info was the OP must have talked with someone at WDTC, NOT at an actual hotel at DLR. I phoned the Grand front desk, so it was directly from the hotel. I wouldn't worry about it

Just an FYI- I received my confirmation for my trip in late October where we will be staying onsite. On the confirmation, it states 5 day park hopper pass and one Magic Morning! Perhaps, this is why the rumors begin again and again! So, we will see what happens when I get there. I am just happy that I get to go to Disneyland for 5 days!

haha aint that the truth...oh but you've been on here long enough now hydroguy to know that you can ask 12 different cm's the same question and you still wont get the same story ROFL

And if you stay across the street at a regular hotel, you only get one MM for however many days you spend there?

Well, now at least we know it wasn't just one misinformed CM, as shown by this email message from Disney:

But that is how it has been worded at least since March 2007. They have NEVER stated, until you are at the desk, checking in, that you get more than one.

Which is pretty much what the person following up darkbeer's post (the lovely and talented hobbitfeet aka moi, LOL) said.


don't get me wrong...it's always possible for them to change it. But the things being cited that it has changed...have always been stated. They aren't new, or changes. When someone actually checks in and is told that they don't get MM with their stay...that's when I'll believe the change. (and I probably still won't totally believe it until I'm the one checking in being told it, LOL)

If you are staying at one of the official DLR hotels (DLH, GCH, or PPH), you can use MM every morning that it is offered - Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This is regardless of what type of park ticket you are using at Disneyland on that day. MM is not offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Also, MM is only available for Disneyland, not for DCA.

If you are staying at a non-Disney hotel, I think it depends on what kind of ticket you have. Someone else can confirm this, but I think you get at most one MM day per multi-day ticket.

I'll have to ask about that when we make our reservations. We usually only make it to one MM anyways so it wouldn't be a big deal to us.
