Change in MM policy for onsite guests

Just wondering if I can chuck a spanner into the discussion.

Obviously no one can be sure until people start checking in but does anyone think VGC guests will not get this perk???

If you are staying at one of the official DLR hotels (DLH, GCH, or PPH), you can use MM every morning that it is offered - Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This is regardless of what type of park ticket you are using at Disneyland on that day. MM is not offered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Also, MM is only available for Disneyland, not for DCA.

If you are staying at a non-Disney hotel, I think it depends on what kind of ticket you have. Someone else can confirm this, but I think you get at most one MM day per multi-day ticket.

Yeah, i'm staying at a DLR Hotel, the DLH (date wanted a themed room, so we got the Aurora one. :D )

Thanks alot, I guess we can go to the park at 8am than 9am on those days you said, correct? Sweet. :D

Just want to add that we were told this when checking into the GCH a couple of trips ago and the information was wrong. I don't know why some CMs keep saying this -- I have a hard time believing it, especially when it is so much cheaper to stay off DL property.

I don't blame you for being worried -- we were shocked! But then I asked about it at the gate and they said you just show your hotel key and you're good to go.

Hope it works the same for you!:goodvibes

I expect that VGC guests will get the same MM access as "regular" guests staying at any official DLR hotel - DVC guests get the equivalent perk at WDW when staying at a DVC property (MM is known there as EMH or Extra Magic Hours).

(FYI, I stayed at the PPH and GCH using DVC points from 9/9-9/16, and was told by CM's at each hotel that I could do MM every day it was offered. It was even listed on the information sheet I received at check-in from each hotel.)

Also, there really aren't that many DVC units -- so it wont make much difference in the parks if they are included. :)

We will be staying at Paradise Pier in Feb and I was wondering if we want to do MM can we enter through the monorail or do we have to walk all the way to the main gate? I haven't stayed on property in years so I am not sure how this all works. Plus I have an AP so haven't been able to do MM either.

TIA for any info. (would hate to have to walk all the way down to the gate from PP if we can go through the Monorail). :)

It looks as if the OP is correct. See my WDTC Itinerary below. One Magic Morning entry into Fantasyland per person per stay. We will be staying over a Sunday and a Tuesday but only plan to use one MM so it's OK by me. We have an 8:00 AM PS for Goofy's Kitchen on Sunday Morning.

Nope, that's just their standard info on your itinerary. This is the same info you would get no matter which hotel you are staying at - the Park Hoppers you bought include one MM. You don't get the info about all the MMs until you check into the hotel :thumbsup2

I hope you're right. We'll find out Saturday 9/26. You'd think WDTC would get it right. The hotel is listed on the itinerary. I would be pretty dang easy to remove the word "one" from DLR hotel intineraries vs. those using partner hotels.

But it's also not wrong - it's listing that with the 5-day Park Hoppers that you bought, you get one MM. When you check in to a DLR hotel, they will let you know that while staying at the DLR hotel, you get any MM mornings that they offer while you are there - not quite the same...

From this thread:

"Magic Morning (Early Entry) Super Thread" by DLR29 www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675403

For guests staying at the DLH or PPH can you take the monorail?
You may use the monorail to enter the park for MM; however it is a better option to walk through DTD and use the main entrance. The monorail sometimes beats the front gate crowds. Sometimes not. It's a toss up. Use the monorail more for at the end of the day when your feet are tired and you don't feel like walking all the way back to the hotel.

Queen is right. They are talking about MM with regard to your ticket which has one MM built in. The DLR hotels have a different policy. :)

WDTC isn't in the hotels. They don't know the policies. Should they? Maybe. But Disney Dining doesn't always know the specific things in the restaurants, so is it right for me to expect WDTC to know all about the onsite hotels???

That confirmation is exactly the wording we had with our Costco package. Costco goes directly through WDTC (as does AAA) so it's the same apart from the occasional perk that the individual travel company offers (costco = included character breakfast, aaa = free parking at the parks). When i called "costco travel disney experts", I got WDTC reps who knew to answer Costco Travel. :)

My trip was in '07, and we had all those MMs, they weren't connected to our ticket at all, just the hotel.

I'm mystified how mmmears was told while checking in that they don't get MMs! Doesn't GCH have a sheet of paper spelling it out just like PPH does? And I think DLH did too when we checked in last May (I'd have to check). It's part of their normal checking in process....

I understand your reasoning so I hope it is true. We should find out pretty soon!!!

I think that it was a misinformed CM -- didn't seem like someone who really knew what she was talking about, so we just went ahead to the park and found out the truth. DH was wondering how many people who were checking in just missed all the MMs because they believed this person.:confused3

It's too bad when the people at the front desk know less than I do...:rotfl:

Queenie (& all others who posted with concerns), please post when you return.

Many of us regulars are 99.99% sure that you'll have multiple MM opportunities if staying onsite....but we rely on up to date info from visitors (like youself) for confirmation. :)

Have a GREAT time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

I think Magic Mornings at Disneyland are about the most confused issue around here!

My experience has been that when I buy a package through Disney that includes a park hopper ticket, it always says that since any park hopper ticket has one mm attached to it. Then once I get there, they tell me at check in about MM, what days its offered etc and to show them my room key at the turnstiles. GCH and DLH have both had info sheets with all sorts of information on it, including what days MM's are and how you can do any of them as an onsite guest.

I would be shocked beyond belief if people staying at the GCV don't get this perk. As a dvc member, I have gotten EMH at WDW since I bought in back in 2004. Its an onsite thing, whether you booked through Disney, DVC or a site like Expedia. Same with DL (in my experience). When I have used my points at the DLH and GCH, I have always been able to do MM.

I am not a bit worried but if Disney discontinues this, they should be! Because those MM perks are a huge reason many choose to pony up the $$$ and stay onsite. Especially in peak seasons and for AP holders who have no other way to take advantage of MM.

Hi all,

We're just back from weekend stay at the DLH and can confirm that we had magic mornings both Saturday and Sunday. It was a fabulous weekend in the parks, both weather and crowdwise. The Saturday magic morning was a bit brutal with a 7am start, but a walk on for peter pan and nemo made it worth it!

But a 7am start time should be a piece of cake for a Diser named Donut. :lmao:

Donut....thanks for posting this. :hippie: Exactly what we needed.

Hopefully someone else will post so we have double confirmation. :teacher:

Strangely enough, I'm not that fond of donuts nor am I proficient at making them. My nickname stems from my husband using the phrase "joe bag o donuts" a lot when we first met that eventually got shortened to just "the donut". Not that I turn donuts down when they come my way. ;)

We're AP holders and so this was our first magic morning ever. Truly it was an amazing experience. There were maybe a couple of hundred people at that Saturday 7am opening. It was pretty cool to see the park so empty but all the Fantasyland rides operating (except for Peter Pan which was having some technical difficulties).

Sunday's 8am opening had many more people, but we were still able to walk on to most of the rides. Even after the open, a couple of cast members mentioned how slow they thought it was for a Sunday. Perhaps most locals are staying away with both HM and SM down for holiday refurbs.
