We just checked out our lunch using the quick service dining plan and were told that as of midnight last night the plans changed so that a meal consisted of your entree and one other item (either a drink OR dessert). It always has been up until this an entree, drink AND dessert. Anyone else come across this today? It really shocked us when we checked out.

I have not heard anything like that, but I would post your question on the DDP-sub board of the Restaurants board.

Came back to add this. The DDP sticky over there says this:

The other apparent difference in the 2011 brochure is the removal of the "juice" entitlement for breakfast. It appears guests redeeming dining credits for breakfast will no longer be entitled to a second beverage in lieu of dessert. This will be something to watch for when we start getting reports back from persons using the plan for breakfast in 2011.

(the "other" referenced is Le Cellier changing to 2 credits for dinner).

I think your server was confused, but I'm not sure how the statement above applies to the QS plan (or how that worked in the past).

We had been getting lunch back at the resort, and were told it was the milk or the dessert. That would make sense though, if the cast member was confused and took the new breakfast rule and applied it across all meals.

I just checked Disney's TA-only website (which generally is updated much, much more frequently than the general public site) and for the 2011 Dining Plans (QS, DP and DDP) it still says that a meal consists of one entree, one dessert and one non-alcoholic beverage.

My guess would be that the CMs are confused about the removal of the extra beverage option from breakfast, which used to be considered the "dessert." I'd challenge them on it if they're not allowing you to get both a dessert and a beverage.

Following is from the 2011 Dining Plan Brochure:

Each Quick-Service Meal includes one (1) single serving:

FOR BREAKFAST
Entrée
Non-alcoholic beverage

FOR LUNCH/DINNER
Entrée
Dessert
Non-alcoholic beverage

Each Table Service Meal Includes One Single Servicng:

FOR BREAKFAST
Entrée
Non-alcoholic beverage
OR One (1) full buffet

FOR LUNCH/DINNER
Appetizer (Guest ages 3-9 only)
Entrée
Dessert
Non-alcoholic beverage
OR One (1) full buffet

Why would appetizers be available ONLY to children? That sounds really weird to me. Is that right?

Kids have a special menu that they choose off of, which is really not that they have many options to choose from. But yes, they have a small appetizer on it, like grapes or carrots included.

Oh, ok thanks mariepapa.

Is that for the standard dining plan? I haven't done a dining plan before, but I could swear the one we were considering included appetizers for adults.

Thanks for all the replies!!!!!!!!! My mom just went back to the food court with our reciepts and asked for a manager and she went and got the milk for her! Couldn't figure out why the cashier wouldn't let her get it in the first place. I'm so glad we figured this out, It saved us cutting ourselves short on an item by following the "new rules" after today. Now we know to say something! Thanks again!

The Deluxe Dining Plan includes appetizers for adults as well.

The Standard Dining Plan includes appetizers for guests ages 3-9 only.

Thank you Tricia and mariepapa! :flower3:

You are welcome. If you are thinking about doing the dining plan, really look at where you want to dine and look at the changes that have been made in this year's plan. Also, look at the style of dining your family or group that you will be with has. Do you want mostly quick service or sit down? Maybe many sit down dinners?

Our family of four really enjoys the regular dining plan and we find we save money with it. But not everyone does. You may find it is wasteful. A room discount may be more beneficial for you.

I consider juice to be a non alcoholic beverage......

Why in the world can you NOT get juice at breakfast or any other meal????

You can get juice as your non-alcoholic beverage.

As of this year, you can no longer (for breakfast) get juice AND a non-alcoholic beverage.

That is the difference that we are talking about - you cannot get both anymore.

Which we loved having and will miss this year. :sad2:

When we had breakfast at CSR, it was great having a juice with our meal and taking a bottle of water for the parks.

I might have to relook at ordering some water to be delivered to us.
