i am trying to advise someone who wants to join DVC
she wants to use SSRS points at the 7 month window, at BCV, whenever possible

What are the possible changes, that could happen at our DVC resorts
with the normal
11 month window at your home resort
and 7 month window at you non home resort

Since DVC is a collection of resorts, I don't see them doing away with being able to book at "sister" DVC resorts, but I guess it "could" happen. The only thing that may be a source of frustration to people who didn't buy where they would be most happy to stay is that as the number of members increases, the 7-month window may be harder to get for the smaller resorts, and BCV is certainly one of these. I would imagine flexibility will become more important with regards to the 7 month window as time goes on, so if your friend can only vacation at certain times, this may be frustrating. It's a large investment, so if BCV is that important, resales may be the best answer.

I agree with jarestel. :D

I would add that in the documents that we sign at purchase, it says that the home resort booking advantage will always be at least 1 month. To date, I have seen no indication that DVC will change from the current 4 month advantage, but as jarestel says, "it could happen."

I would also add that it would be helpful to know when your friend plans to vacation. She should know that some times of the year are more difficult to book at the 7th month window than others. You should also tell her that busy times in the parks do not necessarily coincide with busy times at the DVC resorts.

To sum it all up - if she really wants to stay at the BCV on a regular basis, she should look for a BCV resale that meets her needs.

Best wishes - :D

i thought webmaster doc or dean, or one of the other dvc experts told me that the 7 month window, could be reduced in a worse case scenario to one month.

Or I may be totally confused??

Please tell me if this is correct

the home dvc resort booking window is 4 months, earlier than the non home dvc resort booking window, at this time.

It could be reducded to as much as one month is this correct?

i.e.
you own at SSRS
your booking window at SSRS would be 11 months, but then other
DVC owners at other resorts than SSRS
could have access as early as 10 months to SSRS??

Yes, this is correct - according to the documents, DVC could change the home resort booking advantage to be as little as 1 month. However, as I posted earlier, there have been no indications that DVC will change the current home resort booking advantage of 4 months.

Yes. You understand correctly. Again, I personally do not think this will happen. But it could.

My caution is this. BCV is NOT huge and my sucess rate at 7 months is 50/50. I think that due to the pool, location and size that this one at 7 months can be hard. Has your friend considere resale at BCV so she could have the 11 months window?

I have had 100% success rate with okw points at BCV at 7 month window

what are examples of 7 month window at BCV fail for you?

Season, size of unit, day of week?

Please continue to help me and my friend

My failure was over Christmas in a 2 bedroom. It worked out fine we just stayed at OKW.

With the large numbers of DVC members now, and the smaller size of BCV and BWV, I suspect booking at 7-months will always be a struggle.

If your friend buys SSR and wants to book those two resorts, I would suggest they always be ready to book the minute the 7-month window opens. :Pinkbounc

I have had 100% success between SEPT 1-DEc 15
except for thanksgiving
XMAS may have contributed to your dissapointment
but you are right more and more SSRS people, more and more issues with 7 month window

I was not disappointed that I did not get BCV. I was fine with OKW.

I do have BCV points that I bought just because I was afraid of the 7 month window here if I tried to use points for things like President's Day Week and things. I "donate" points to my friends and as thier kids and my niece and newphew get older I felt SAB would be a nice touch, but we are limited to school vacations for them.

People may have to get used to calling day by day for 7 month reservations at the smaller resorts once SSR gets sold out and the membership is up over 100,000.
