Change # Guests on ADR?

This might be a stupid question but here's my short dilemma. I am going to DW with my 2 kids in November and my husband can't come this time. My sister is thinking about coming but she can't make a decision until after my ADR date comes and goes. So.... if I book my ADRs for 4 and she can't come.... am I going to be able to change it to 3? I know there are some that require full prepayment so what about things like that? Can I just call and change it to 3 and get the money refunded? Or am I going to be out of luck and lose the reservation if I try to modify it?

Unless it's prepaid, you won't have to pay a fee for part of your party that doesn't show up, as long as someone shows up. If you want to change the number of people, you can usually do it online. Under MDE at the top, select "My Reservations and Tickets". To the right of each reservation, you can "Change Reservation". You can also change who is coming through "Update Guests". I wouldn't remover her unless you know for sure that she isn't coming though, since you won't be penalized if she doesn't.

However, if it's prepaid, I don't think you can get a refund, unless you remove her within the specified cancelation timeframe, which is usually the day before. On the prepaid ones, you might have to call to update the number of guests, but you have to do it before the day of the reservation.

You would think it would be a no brainer to add a 4th for a ressie for 3, right? Well, I was trying to add a 4th to our BOG pre-park open breakfast, which is for 3 now. It couldn't find one at our current time I guess I will have to call on that one. All of the others changed just fine. We might end up canceling anyway, depending upon how the paid morning hours thing works out.

You can make reservations for 4 and not get penalized for showing up with 3. The only time you'd get penalized is if no one shows up for the reservation.

For prepaid things - just make sure you know the cancellation policy. If it's anything other than the usual 24 hour/night before it will say on the booking page online or whoever is taking the reservation online will tell you.

My DD's BF might be joining us on our trip this August but he doesn't know for sure yet. When I made our ADRs back in February I made them all for 4 people instead of 3 just in case he does join us. If he can't join us I'll just tell the restaurant a person in our party couldn't be there. None of our meals are prepaid.
