Chances Wish MV date gets moved?

We're ecstatic to be booked for the MV in June but I was wondering,
What are the chances the MV gets moved? Meaning, how accurate is the June 9 sailing date?

I ask bc right after the MV we have a trip scheduled to Europe.. About a week after.
If they move the date by a week we're kind of in a pickle and will have to juggle with dates of the trip.

Have the previous ships' MV sailings been moved from their original dates?
When will the June 9th date look more set in stone?

I have to imagine Disney was very careful about this one given past issues. What may get disrupted is media previews, etc.
But there's always a chance.

At this point I think Disney has done plenty of planning and allowed for time and learned from the past having to move the dates. Unless there is an external reason (like COVID for example, although I will scream if we have a COVID problem at that point) I'd bet there won't be changes.

With the Fantasy my understanding is the MV people had the option of moving to the new date or a refund.

Some of it is out of Disney's control. A delay could be caused by an issue at the ship yard.

We live in uncertain times, and delays happen in construction in the best of times.

But no need to worry about your schedule, as they won't reschedule your booking to the new MV dates. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney doesn't have rooms blocked off for the whole month of June and maybe for July for their VIPs. But could be some already booked in June or July will get the MV...

God I hope you're right and they don't re-schedule.
I will call them around November to see if they're confident the date is firm before we book airplane tickets for our summer trip.

Such as a fire.... that happened to Odyssey of the Seas not too long ago. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/...odyssey-of-the-seas-results-damage-and-delays

That is very rare of course.

Happened to the Norwegian Epic while it was being built, there were 3 fires, arson was suspected. There was also a ship yard worker strike. The ship's maiden voyage which was a TA crossing was not delayed but they did have workers from the French ship yard finishing up some interior work. We were on the sailing in a Haven 2 bedroom suite. Some parts of the Haven were closed off because they were still being completed. NCL gave us a very generous FCC as a result.

At best 50/50. Like mentioned above, theres any number of things out of Disneys control. Something else to consider, right now the Bahamas and a bunch of other Carribean Isalnds are under a CDC Level 4, Avoid all Travel due to Covid, with at least 4 Islands I know of under a 2 week lockdown. We simply dont now what the travel restrictions are that far out. Could be gone, could be same or worse. Another lock down in Europe, will probably skew the delivery of the Wish. Id say literally, its day by day.

I think Disney is smarter than taking a 50/50 risk at the point they take bookings. I would guess they feel 80%+ confident.
They could have waited to take bookings if they didn't. It doesn't only impact the maiden voyage but potentially those following, and mostly high Platinum sailors.
I don't think they would take a big risk here.

If delayed a week for example , would those who booked the 2nd week automatically be the folks on the maiden voyage ? Nice bonus if yes LOL

They might not. When we had delays with the NCL Epic in 2010, they either canceled and/or shortened most of the media/travel agent preview cruises in Europe so the maiden voyage from Southampton to NYC would not be delayed.

More likely that cruise would be cancelled to honor the maiden reservations for those who can shift their dates. Then they would allow guests that were on that cruise rebook at the higher rate if they wish to fill any rooms that were cancelled.

We were on the MV of the Magic and it was originally scheduled for March 1998 and then May 1998 (IIRC) and finally we sailed on July 30, 1998. Disney was very generous with discounts along the way and some onboard credit and help with airline change fees. We had to change flights, dog care, house watching, homework, hotel plans, rental cars, etc. twice. The logistics were crazy but it all worked out.

The Dream MV had no changes that I can recall and we sailed on the date we were supposed to.

I don't think Disney would have opened up bookings for the Wish if they weren't sure of the sailing date. Of course something unexpected at the shipyard could happen but barring things like that it should sail on time. Can't wait for the Wish MV!!!

Here is a pic of the original brochure for the Magic's March MV date that I still have. I also have the brochure that mentions the actual sail date in July. Not sure if they made a brochure for the May date.

I asked a cast member that question, obviously no once can predict what will happen in the future, but they explained Disney will somehow make it right. I asked if the date gets pushed back, will those dates become the maiden voyage. They said it was hard because maiden voyage was the only one with 5 nights, all the other itineraries were 3 or 4 nights afterwords. Either way if something happens they said they would contact anyone with reservations that were impacted.

Thank you for calling and asking this.
Another thing is DCL probably knows a number of people have other cruises lined up after the MV so a rescheduling would impact a lot of ppl.. the Europe season with the Magic starts 4 weeks after...I'm hopeful DCL will do their utmost to not move the date or if they do it only is by 1 or 2 weeks. 3 weeks or more would cause major disruptions on ppl's plans.
