Chances of Standard BWV Studio this December?--UPDATE

I have 139 pts in holding and am praying the room I want is available tomorrow to use all 139 pts.

I GOT IT!!! After 6 days on the waitlist, I got the Boardwalk Standard View. I am so excited!!! I have really been wanting to stay at BWV, plus I don't have to change any ADRs. I had to borrow only one point (instead of 3 for the AKV Standard studio)! I will probably go ahead and add the DxDDP for our first 2 nights at AKV just in case!

Even one point has been endowed with the ability to make sane people crazy. It's just the nature of the beast. We all understand!

I myself once made a considered, conscious decision to sacrifice 5 points so that I wouldn't have to change rooms for the last night of my stay. (It's complicated, but involved the waitlist and me not willing to gamble on it working, LOL).

I knew well ahead of time that those 5 points would go into holding and that I would not be able to use them if the waitlist worked. I accepted that. I told myself that 5 points was the price for my peace of mind. (I am a pretty big believer in insurance in my non-Disney life). It made prefect sense. I waited and hoped for the waitlist to work. Checked every day.

And then the waitlist worked and the points went into holding.


Those darn 5 points in holding worked together and did their utmost to drive me crazy. Almost did something stupid to save them several times. Those points did NOT want to die without fulfilling their mission.

But in the end, they expired and now I am well again.

Well I ended up booking AKV Jambo for my sister during F&W. 128 pts used. 11 left over. I guess 11 pts will expire. Well better than 139 PTS.

I've been reading about a lot of BWV waitlists coming through for October, including mine. Congrats to all that had your WL come through and to those still waiting.

11 points can book a studio night somewhere! Offer to sell it cheap or give away a night to a lucky person. I have done that before and passed along the magic. People like me who are driving distance would jump at a free night.

Thanks, everyone! I am VERY excited to be staying at the Boardwalk. I've really been wanting to stay there, but figured it would be a few years before I got the chance. Maybe the cancellation of the segmented trips wasn't all bad. Oh and I hope whoever got my AKV value studio for December 20 was just as excited as I was.

Thanks for posting this. I decided to get on the wait list for the same night. We also are stuck moving due to the no segementing issue and I have 1 room at AKL but would love BC or BWV. I put in for the higher point room since it seemed to be better odds.

I am trying to figure out how to dispose of the 11 points. They are holding pts and I have to use them before February 1.

****UPDATE***Well I lucked out again. I was able to add on a night to my sister's stay in November. So it will be November 4-10 at AKL Jambo. 1 BR. They had 1 BRs at Kidani but I didn't want them to move so I took Jambo. Of course, had to go into next UY pts but its ok.

Good luck! That makes sense to waitlist the higher point room. I didn't even think about that. I just wanted to get a room with as few extra points as possible--1 to be exact. I guess I'm just lucky when it comes to DVC (well, except for the segmenting issue, that is). My first trip to HHI was 4 nights in a 1-BR in July I booked 7 months out. I didn't even realize at the time how small my chances were. I just wish I were as lucky in other areas of my life! Hope you have wonderful luck and get what you are looking for!
