Chances of changing resorts in January?

Hi

We recently purchased at SSR and are planning our first trip for late Dec. and the first 10+days in January. I was wondering what our chances would be of getting into one of the Epcot DVC at the 7 month window. My husband plans to run the marathon Jan 6/7 and I think it may be easier for me to get around with 2DS from a closer location. Thank You for your help.

You might have a bit of trouble with Jan. 1, but I think beyond that I think it is possible. If you have young children, and you think you might be most interested in spending the most time, at MK, I would consider VWL instead of the Bolardwalk area. One of the reasons I say this, is because the 2AM noise from the marathon staging area can be a problem for those resorts nearby. We had the music wake us up both on half marathon day and marathon day at OKW, and I think BWV and BCV would be about the same problem.

If by saying 'late December' you're including New Year's Eve, your chances are probably zero of getting into BWV or BCV for that night. Even the other resorts could be tough for 12/31 at the 7-month mark.

You should make a reservation at SSR to be sure you have something, and then you can check about switching later. Remember, New Year's Eve is positively THE most popular night for DVC members to book.

Since NYE this year is on a Sunday, and Monday is a holiday, there'll be a lot of members taking those nights as a long weekend. As Diane said, beginning Jan 2nd things will probably be easier.

We were able to get a 1BR at BCV this last January from the 13th to the 15th by switching at the 7 mo mark.
