Chances of BWV waitlist for Christmas

Does anyone have any experience of a waitlist coming through for the BWV over Christmas week? Looking at the availability it looks like I'd have a better chance in a 1 bed villa but I'm really reluctant to use so many points when we don't need the space. I'd like a prefered view studio but wouldn't mind any type. I'd like 10 nights from 22nd Dec but realise that the chances of this coming through are unrealistic. If any dates became available what would be the likely chances of me being able to purchase the other dates as a cash option?

Is it possible to purchase rooms on a cash basis through member services and if so are any discounts available? Sorry for all the questions but there's just so much that I don't know about all of this and don't want to make any mistakes.

Our waitlists usually don't come through, that's why we own at 5 resorts and we book early.

DVC does offer a 25% discount off of rack rate which is still expensive IMO but it isn't always available just like DCL on points isn't always available and neither is RCI.

10 nights beginning 12/22 is a very long shot, IMO. NYE will be close to impossible. That's been sold out for several months and there is undoubtedly a long waitlist.

No harm in trying, though. Hope I am wrong in your case.
