Chances of booking VWL 7 months out for F&W

I really feel like I want to buy at SSR. The only resort I like more is VWL but I love variety more than anything and would want to try them all, therefore it would be a few years before I'd settle down and only want to stay at my favorite. I'd only be buying a small contract so if I fell in love with WVL, I could always buy there later. So for now, SSR definitely seems like the best buy.

But, my only hesitation is we love to go in October. Not because of F&W but because we just like October. I know my chances of booking a studio at WVL at 7 months out for Christmas is slim but that really doesn't phase me at all since I'm not a big Christmas fanatic. I would however like to know what my chances are of booking a studio at VWL at 7 months out for October. I can be VERY flexible on my dates.

Thank you for your help!

Edit: Oops! I thought I was posting this on the planning forum. Sorry about that!

I'm not an owner at VWL (yet!) but I think your chances there at 7mos are very good. The units that book up are those near EPCOT (BWV, BCV) as people want to walk to/from the park.

I'm tossing a number of trip choices around for the summer through fall and VWL during F&W in Oct is one of them. I'm not concerned about transferring the days over to VWL from AKV & if it doesn't work out we love our home resort anyway.

The best advice on these boards I've read is "Buy where you love." If you love SSR and don't mind having to stay there if your 7month options don't come through Do it. SSR has good resale prices and low dues. If staying at SSR would feel like your second choice, don't do it. My plan is to add on at VWL some day, not to replace our AKV contract. I love Kidani and the options over at Jambo. (DD is another thing, she prefers SSR, but this is my contract, not hers)

Ok, thank you for that info! SSR would definitely NOT feel like 2nd choice. And even if I couldn't get in at WVL one year, I could just try again the next year since I believe we'll be rotating through all of them anyway. I know it sounds crazy since SSR is not as difficult to book as others, but I think that is the one I would never want to get locked out of if DVC should ever decide to change the rules on members who bought resale. We like having access to multiple dining options at DTD; and I wouldn't want to be stuck in the same heavily themed resort every year; and once the Paddock Pool and Hyperion Wharf are completed, I think the demand for SSR will grow. So, yeah...I'm pretty sure I want to buy at SSR!

You'll be fine! We bookeda 1 br at BCV for a 9 day trip over Veteran's day in Nov this past year - switched from my home resort at the 7 month window...no problem at all - BC and BW are the popular ones for F&W due to location....
