I'm a bit hopeful for European cruises this summer.

We are scheduled for July 6th out of Rome 11 night cruise and ending in Barcelona.
These cruises are not under the CDC because they are sailing out of Europe.
I am watching what happens, there are some cruises sailing from Rome soon, so we are waiting to see what happens with these.
The fact that DCL left the Magic in Europe gives me reason to think they may sail this Summer if it's possible.
We have refundable hotels booked and our airfare moved from last years failed cruise.
If the ship doesn't go and we are able we will use the airfare and go over for a week in Italy.
Its all a waiting game.
We are on this cruise as well as a high school graduation present for our daughter. At this point, I am hoping DCL cancels so we can get our FCC and rebook for next year. I’m concerned it won’t get cancelled, but the experience will be watered down at best, or extremely problematic with quarantines at worst. I highly doubt we are on this sailing, even if it goes as planned.
Cruising HAS restarted in Europe https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/5603/
The following companies have been sailing
Aida
Costa
Hapag - Llyod
MSC
TUI
I feel like I am just losing hope that we will ever have what we used to. That we will ever have cruising the way we used to.
I think I am back in my depression phase.
Imo it will come back pretty much the way it used to be (and so will WDW), but not this year. By 2023, Disney cruises and parks will probably look a lot like they did in 2019.I feel like I am just losing hope that we will ever have what we used to. That we will ever have cruising the way we used to.

no you wont have cruising like you used to, well at least for a few years. When cruising returns it will be a very different experience to what it was before Covid. People really need to manage expectations. Just like a Walt Disney World visit is very different to what it used to be.
We are on the Greek Isles Cruise out of Rome on June 27. My agent emailed and said she thinks they will cancel. We have a sweet stacked 30% discount on this cruise that I am afraid we will lose. 10% onboard booking plus 20% missed port in 2018 both maxed out date wise. I hope DCL might extend discounts if they cancel but who knows.
A discount for a missed port is maybe a little trickier than the 40% off for the WBPC ( we were also on that sailing). For a discount initially offered in 2018 there have been opportunities to sail and use it before things shut down. There hasn’t been a cruise since the WBPC.We are in a similar situation. Booked on the July 30 Norway/Iceland cruise using a 10% OBB as well as 40% off for being on the 2020 WBPC. I can’t imagine they wouldn’t extend discounts, but like you said-who knows.
WDW is not that different than it used to be, other than ppl wearing masks.
We went a couple of days ago and it was a zoo... they claim they only admit 30-35% but it felt like 60-70% full..
yes all were wearing masks but zero social distancing. the lineups at the rides were crazy long and had ppl bunched up together, including indoor attractions and stores. in restaurants no one was wearing masks with the excuse that that they're eating. ppl are either getting relaxed bc they know the vaccine is here or they're tired of all the restrictions.
Oh wow. Is everything back - character interactions, character meals, full parade, shows, fireworks, etc.?
they claim they only admit 30-35% but it felt like 60-70% full
I'm sure it's only 35% but that's still a lot of people. Think about all the times that, for example, the Magic Kingdom is actually at 100% capacity. Maybe twice a year. Even on a "busy" day, I imagine that they are not anywhere near capacity. 35% capacity is still A LOT of people.
I love the cavalcades! You're walking around, doing your own thing, and there are Mickey and friends! I was never one to wait for a parade, so I think this is one of those silver linings from Covid.No. There are no characters, there are a couple of sort of character meals, but there's no hugging or signatures or anything, there are no full parades (but honestly, I kind of like the cavalcades) and no fireworks.
