I think I posted this once before on the wrong board.

I am wait listed as of 2-3 days ago for a studio at VGC for one night Wed Oct 7. Should I assume this will never come through and just switch over to the DL Hotel? I have never been to CA but I am reading this is a tiny resort. I don't want to sit on this wait list and then find out DL Hotel has no vacancy. Thank you.

From my personal experience I rarely get my waitlist at VGC. I always submit my reservations at the 7 month window during a time that the resort and other hotels are extremely busy (runDisney events). I believe they are less than 70 DVC rooms at VGC so it makes it tough to get a reservation but you might get lucky. If you would prefer not to wait I would suggest you consider either DL Hotel or Paradise Pier.

Is there something special going on October 7? Anyway....I have always been able to get a reservation at the 7 month window. The few times I didn't make a ressie at the 7 month mark, it was completely booked up. I tried waitlist once, it never came thru. If I don't make a reservation when my window opens, I just don't bother. Someone at Member Services once told me that they rarely have cancelations and it's such a small DVC resort and that makes it more difficult.

Hi all....nothing specific on Oct 7 I am aware of. It is the 60th anniversary though so I was afraid no one would cancel. I booked the DL Hotel. I can sleep better at night now...lol Thank you everyone!

Hi MiaSRN62 - Did you keep your waitlist at the GC? There is no additional cost to do so, and I think you can cancel your cash ressie at the DLH at 5 days out with no penalty. So leaving the waitlist in place would give you the best chance at a room coming available while still having the insurance that you have a back-up room already booked. If the GC room comes though at 5+ days out, then cancel your DLH room.

Hi Just Peachy.....no, I cancelled the waitlist. My fear was the "standard" view DL Hotel rooms would be gone and we did not want to pay premium points. But I see your. Trouble was, I am in a borrowing situation so I would have had to borrow to keep that VGC studio on the waitlist. I didn't want the points to go back as reservation points if I didn't get it. But thank you!

Same boat here - wait listed at the 7 month window for VGC (I think there are folks walking their reservations because I checked daily for availability at the resort and at 7 months 1 day there was availability for all days at VGC - I also checked day by day at the 7 month 1 day window for the rest of the days I want and the same thing - they show available but when the actual 7 month day shows up they are gone).

We are going for the Avengers race weekend this year. It looks like we should just plan to stay cash/points at one of the other hotels or just stay offsite.

Except during a very few low times, I think VGC studios always books up immediately at the 7 month window. It would be hard to walk a reservation in such a situation because it's hard to grab any first day. Though I suppose people could just start early attempting a booking in the hopes they're one of the lucky few to get a room first thing in the morning, and then walk it to their ideal dates.

I have had success booking VGC after the 7 month window in early September--we love that time because it is low demand for DVC and the parks aren't very crowded (probably because they're hot as hades).

Our waitlist for a studio for three nights in November just came through! I tried to get the rooms at the 7 month window but was only able to get two nights in a one bedroom which I took. I wait listed the three nights and one week later it came through. It's a miracle, I never thought that would happen!
