Chances for Sold Out Cruise...

Regardless of whether or not there is room in the stateroom, they sometimes only have certain occupancy level available for that room. Last year we tried to add my two nieces into our stateroom, which sleeps 4. We were told there are no more quad occupancies allowed, regardless of the fact that they can fit in our room. We had to book a separate stateroom for them to come with us.

What happens is that if they allowed all staterooms to have the maximum # of people in them, technically the ship would be over capacity. So regardless of the listed number that can fit in the room, it's all about occupancy allocation. If they book a certain number, for example, of inside staterooms with 4 people in the room, they will cap the quad occupancy and only allow 2 people to book the rest of the rooms to be sure they don't overbook the ship as a whole. I was super confused about it until a CM explained it to me this way!

Hello everyone! I ended up contacting a travel agent who explained it. It's exactly as all of you said; lifeboat capacity issues. I instead booked connecting rooms, but the cost is more than I'm comfortable with. Do you think it's still likely availability will open to add just one more person to once family room? I was told I could switch easily should one open up.

Thanks again for all of your help :) I am BEYOND excited for this trip!!!

It is possible that room can open up and all of you could be in one cabin. But be careful. Now that you are booked, if the cabins don't open up until the paid in full date, you would have a penalty to cancel one of the cabins if you make the change even the next day. Make sure you know exactly when penalties begin and keep a close eye on availability that last week as that is when things are most likely to open up.

Just wanted to update! Less than a week after booking we got a 4C family room! :) YAY!! Soooo glad! I would've loved 2 rooms, but the extra $1800 was going to be difficult. Thank you all for the wonderful help and advice! :)

So glad you were able to get what you were looking for. We are on that cruise also - really looking forward to it!!
