Hi! For various reasons I couldn't book my cruise until this last week. I was hoping for the November 28th Fantasy Western Caribbean cruise. But once I went to book, it, it was sold out :((literally the DAY I was able to book).

I am so sad, this was to be our first cruise.

Anyway, I read somewhere that before final payday (in this case, it would be last day of August or so) people cancel and cabins may come available again. My question is; How likely is this to happen (needing family room w/verandah).

Thank you! :)

This sailing seems to have several cabin categories still available, including insides. Are you sure it's sold out, or were you hoping for a very specific cabin type, like Concierge?

A Family Verandah Room (there are 5 of us.)

I really reallllly hope they will have one available again.... So wish I could've booked earlier.

Thank you for your replies!

Okay, what's the deal?? When I input 4 people on their website, a family verandah room IS available for 4-5 people. But when I input 5 people for the trip, the cruise doesn't even show up!!

Maybe I should call? Thanks again so much!

Might you consider booking another style of room(s), then hope for what you want to become available later? i'd hate for your family to miss a cruise, because really you spend soooooo much of your time outside the room.

I'd do that, but you'd have to be sure that you will accept the room you do reserve just in case. And, you might find a travel agent who would be willing to do the watching for you and keep an eye out for the right room to come available.

All said, I just bet there will be a cancellation near the Paid In Full (PIF) date. No data to back that up, just a feeling from reading over the years. Those days would be the time to keep checking.

Absolutely I'd call. Nothing to lose, and you might get some pretty good information. Talking to a human about this over the phone - priceless. Give Disney a call directly, or if you have a Disney well-qualified travel agent you like and can talk to, give them a call. The interaction you can have with a human with a give-and-take question and answer session would be well worth the 10 minutes on the phone.

It could also be that the age of one of your kids is currently sold out.

There are Family Verandah rooms that only sleep 4 and ones that sleep 5. I'd guess that the 4 person ones still have some availability, while the 5 person ones are sold out.

Is the 5th person you are adding a child? What age? Could be the kid's club for that age is full.

Or the lifeboat stations for all the 5 person rooms are full.

It actually doesn't sound like the cruise is sold out. It may be that the kids club is full for a particular age or that the cabins that are available in the category you are looking at can only accommodate 4 people (either because the room only has 4 beds or because the life boat station they are located in can only allow 4 more people in the cabin.) It is often difficult to find a cabin for 5, have you considered booking 2 cabins?

Could also be that someone is holding cabins and they could reopen in a short while.

The room that is available may only sleep 4 people so it wouldn't be available to book for your family of 5. Also it could be that the lifeboat stations are booked up and will not hold a family of 5 or the kids clubs are booked.

Thank you all for your advice and replies! I didn't know about age thing. Makes sense they'd limit age groups.

I can't call yet, but I messed around on their site:

There is my husband and I, and 3 kids, ages 10 mo. 5 and 12.

When I input 1 adult and my 3 kids, there are family verandah rooms, some of which say sleeps 4-5, but some say sleeps 5! So if all my kids' ages are allowed, why isn't the extra adult?

Aaaah so confused! Can't wait to call.

Thanks again for all of our advice and help. This noob had a lot to learn! :)

5th person is a child. However when I input my 3 children and 1 adult, I am able to book a family verandah room that sleeps 5. So I suppose it's just the 5th person is the problem (like the lifeboat capacity previously mentioned)?

I suppose, should I book the room and try to add the fifth person later, or should I pay the extra to book a second inside room, just in case (Husband snores like a lumberjack anyway, he could use his own room, haha ;) )

Again, thanks so much. I didn't even consider the capacity issues, or to try booking for less people!

I would call them and ask because the baby obviously does not need a bed, so the cabin can technically sleep 4, but the computer is possibly kicking you out because it sees 5 humans on the registration. As others stated, it could also be a lifeboat issue...but baby's are help in lifeboats, they don't get seats either...so ???

EDIT: the baby does need a bed...but its not one of the ones built in to the stateroom, so having a 4pax cabin would not matter vs a 5 pax cabin because the baby would not sleep in a real bed anyways.

I would wait and call before making a reservation for only some of you.

You can also book 2 staterooms but all sleep in one. It may cost less. Book you husband and 2 kids in the least expensive inside cabin. Book you and the baby in the veranda.
Disney doesn't care where you sleep.
Just make sure the cabin you book has 2 bunks for the other 2 children.
*** the only issue with this is you will have different lifeboat stations. During the lifeboat drill the first day and if a real Emergency happened

At this point it's probable that the cruise has sold all of its allotment of 5-guest rooms, for capacity issues. I have a thread that lists how many people can actually sleep in the rooms on the new ships, though it's likely you are not able to select a stateroom this close to the cruise date. That might help answer your question. http://www.disboards.com/threads/dc...pdated-list-of-rooms-needed-1st-post.3194826/ An infant counts as a person with guest counts and lifeboat capacity. Booking two staterooms seems like the best bet for you to book 5 people now.

I would put money on it that the lifeboat station for that room doesn't have enough room for five based on the different ways you put in the room occupants that have worked.

I was watching our cruise and a whole bunch of rooms in different categories opened around the paid in full date, especially verandah rooms, so I would say you have a decent shot. I would book quickly once they open because some categories disappeared again within days.

As another option, have you looked at the Magic 29 Nov Western Caribbean out of Miami? Only five nights, but plenty of availability and a good bit cheaper.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to book her with the oldest child. I think the infant would be cheaper than the 12 year old. When you book a room with one adult and a child you pay full fare for the child (same price as an adult, double occupancy).
