Chance of Park Reservations Becoming Available?

My family and I are thinking on coming to the World the 1st full week of December.
The main reason we would like to come is to experience Galaxy's Edge but looking online there are no park passes available for any of the 4 days (Dec. 7-10) we would be in FL.
How likely is it for passes for these dates to become available between now and then?

I just had luck doing this last week. I was able to snag one for Thanksgiving week for my family of 4 after it said it was full. I wasn’t able to book it when I initially made my park reservations but got it later. It’s not as easy as shopping for better dining reservations because you need to cancel whatever park you have reserved for that day before you can even make the attempt. I don’t know how one-off my experience was but there’s at least some hope if you are thinking about doing it.

I just checked the availability calendar for this week (I got here today) and all of a sudden HS has availability for all types of guests on Thursday when previously it was showing as sold out. So who knows???

I would say keep trying. I had reservations for this years thanksgiving week. Cancelled my package months ago, but somehow the park reservations were not cancelled.
When package reservations for 2021 thanksgiving opened up. I made a new reservation and then had to manually cancel all the 2020 park reservations before I could chose new ones in 2021.

So I would assume that more people are like me and just assume that park reservations are automatically cancelled after canceling the vacation package.

Good luck!

Just like back in the FP+ days, people are making and cancelling reservations right now on a daily (hourly) basis.

Good luck!

That or 25% isn't the firm capacity number one would think it is. Or they keep some in reserve, which seems silly if they are sticking to a set capacity limit, just make them all available to begin with. Or maybe another reason is they are shifting availability from one group to another, for example lowering AP and increasing resort guests buckets or vice versa based on known room reservations. Who knows what they are doing most days, LOL!!!

I would like to think that they're just shifting availability around between AP/resort/ticket buckets, but that little voice in my head keeps telling me that they're letting in more people.

This! When I was there in August, I was moving around Park Reservations all the time. I know there were two days I had planned to go to DHS that I changed to other parks. So it certainly can happen, but there are still good chances it won’t also.

If the ONLY reason you are coming is for Galaxy’s Edge, and there aren’t any passes by the latest time you can wait to book the hotel and other parts of your trip, you might want to reconsider the trip, as there are no guarantees a park reservation will show up. However, if you are just wanting to visit WDW and hoping to spend time in GE (and will still enjoy the trip if that doesn’t happen) then book everything and keep trying. I would put the odds at about 50/50, depending on the size of your travel party and the possibility of picking up a cancellation.
