Chance of getting into room earlier than 4pm?

On Tuesday, July 13th, we will be checking into BWV. We will be staying in a 1-bedroom standard view, on our DVC points. What are the chances that our room will be ready earlier than 4pm? We will probably be arriving some time between 11am and 12pm. I am not excpecting the room to be ready, just want to know others' experiences at BWV. While it would be convenient if it was ready when we arrive, it is certainly not necessary and I am not anticipating it! Thanks!

When we stayed at BWV in November last year we were notified at 1:30P that our room was ready.

We've had couple of BWV stays checking in on both weekdays and weekends & only once did we get our villa prior to 2pm, most times it was closer to 4pm and one time we waited until between 4 - 4:30pm by choice because CM told us we could have villa closer to pond if we waited until then which we opted to do. Pack a separate carry bag with swimwear, etc. so you can easily change if you are planning on relaxing at pool instead of park while waiting for your villa.

Thanks! We're planning to go to DTD that afternoon to have lunch and check out the shopping and stuff. No theme park on arrival day. We have a dinner ADR at Chef Mickey's for 5pm. It would be nice if we can be in the room before we have to leave for that and not feel rushed, but again, if not, no big deal. We're driving to Chef Mickey's anyway, so we'll probably leave BWV to head over at 4pm or so and get to the Contemporary early to allow time for parking, etc.

You probably have a 50-50 shot at it. You never know it could be ready when you check in, it's just luck of the draw.

I'd say we've had the room more often before 4...sometimes as early as 1PM.

We checked in last August around 12:30 pm, and the room was ready. We were not expecting it but very thrilled that it was!!

I think the earliest I've ever gotten in a room was 10am, the latest about 4:45. You just have to plan to be flexible.

Sometimes, you can ask at check-in if another room is available that is ready, but this is no guarantee.

We have stayed at BWV more than 30 times. We usually arrive on a Sunday but have also arrived on other days of the week including Tuesday and usually get there between 1:30 and 3:30 (it varies depending on flight and whether we stop for groceries before going to villas. In that time we have gotten the room upon arrival about 1/2 the time and all others about 4 p.m. except once we had to wait until 4:45. Of note is that we have had far more of those 4 p.m. times in the last four to five years, since Disney went to complete outsourcing of housekeeping, than we ever had in the first 8 years and have not gotten the room before 4 in the last four times we have gone.

i agree; from all of our stays, about a 50/50 shot. just make sure they take your cell number, and double check it!!! we have only gotten the text once, but when we call to check they say that it is ready! be flexible and just enjoy that you are there, i'm sure you will be in in time to get over to chef mickeys! have a wonderful time! :thumbsup2

So...they are supposed to text me when my room is ready? Should I call them periodically though anyway?

We've only been able to get in the room before 4 a few times. I think your chances may increase on a weekend due to the fact a lot of DVC'ers purposely check out on a Friday due to the higher point values for the weekends and sometimes.....not always, but, sometimes......Saturdays and Sundays can be earlier check-in days since all units aren't occupied. Now I don't think that is happening as much these days since the points were adjusted a while back.

If you give them your cell phone number when you check in and tell them you prefer to be notified via text (they'll ask your preference), then there is no need to call them at all. I've found the texting system to be outstanding so far.

And for what it's worth, we have stayed at BWV about 6 times now and have gotten into the room as early as 10:00 a.m. and as late as 2:30. For whatever reason, we've had really good luck getting our rooms early there. We don't expect it, but it sure is nice when it happens. :)

It's the luck of the draw. Sometimes we have gotten in early and other times not. We usually stay at OKW so I can't answer to BWV but I would assume it would be pretty much the same.

We usually arrive around 2:00, my experience has been about 50/50. The latest was 4:00. Our arrival tradition is lunch at Big River (love the burgers!), so if it's not ready we go there. A couple of times it still wasn't ready after lunch. One time we waited in the lobby, another time we decided to head out for groceries. I called the number (this was before texts) when we were leaving the store, it was about 3:40, still not ready. So I called again when we got to the parking lot, it was exactly 4:00 and it was ready then.

We check in mid week at BWV and stay there at least twice per year. Last March we had 3 moves at BWV so that's 3 check ins. We have never had a room ready earlier than 2:00 PM.

I suppose it's just our luck, we have only had a few wait lists come through and the lotto is a waste of money. :goodvibes
