We are planning to have some family stay with us during a portion of our next trip. We would like to add a studio lock-off to our one bedroom for a two-bedroom reservation during their stay. Having a two-bedroom is more convenient as well as cheaper by four points per night.

Has anyone had experience converting their one-bedroom to a two bedroom, then back again? Our goal is to maintain a single one-bedroom unit through the duration of our 10 day stay. If this is not possible we probably will rent a studio and ask for it to be close.

Thanks!

Your second choice is the best option. The first chioce is something that is a long shot at best and probably could only be pulled off in January at OKW when business is real slow. Too many head aches go witth the second choice.

We have done this on several occasions and it is possible. (We hope to do it again this January).

If you start with a 2BR and then lose the studio partway thru the stay, there will be no problem. Adding a studio to a 1BR later does add an element of chance- since it depends on the utilization of the adjacent studio (if the occupants are checking out on the same day you want it- you may be OK. Otherwise you'll have to move.)

MS was very clear about this when we made our reservation months ago and we are prepared to move if necessary.

If you absolutely don't want to move, you'd be better off keeping the 1BR and getting a nearby studio for the time you need the extra room.

Good Luck!

Thanks. I think we will try to start with the two-beroom and drop the studio midway. That does seem the bes tsolution and one I hadn't thought of.

I really don't like to move. We have done it in the past and it seems to just ruin the day. Pack the bags, store the bags, unpack the bags. Also, we spend quite a bit of time in the room mid-day and would like to have it available.

Oct. 2002 we were able to arrange this with the CM who checked us in. She really seemed to be wanting to help us with this. My parents were staying in the studio part of the 2 BR and then then left and we kept the 1BR.

This past Sept. we ended up having to move. My parents were with us again and when they left, we wanted to take the studio part of the 2 BR. When I checked in, I tried to explain this to the CM, but I think she mis-understood and then by the time I re-explained it, it was too late. We had to move to a different studio.

We have had success at adding a one bedroom on to a studio reservation. We explained everything at check in time and all went well. No need to move but we did have to check out and then check back in again.

It will all depend on the resort availability at the time you need the lock-off. This week, OKW has been at 98+% (even the weekends were well filled) if you don't want to have to move during the stay, better start with the 2BR.

Good Luck!
