Champions Gate

Hi

We've just received our joining instructions for the villa we booked in Calabay Parc. It gives driving directions from the airport going via Champions Gate - no problem there.

However, it did mention that there was a Publix plus other shops there - which may be handier than going to the one on the 192. Does anyone know what other shops (if any) are at Champions Gate.

Hi Maxine,

When we were last there (Oct 2001) there was just the Publix (which was very friendly, quiet and clean), an off-sales (aka liquor store), and a dry cleaners. However they were about to build some more units which were destined to be a McDonalds and a Chinese restaurant, which I assume will be be open by now...

There is currently a Publix supermarket, Nail Parlour, crepe restaurant, MacDonalds, Video rental shop, Liquor store, Chinese restaurant, a BP Gas station (not yet open for some reason), various small businesses (insurance, dry cleaner, etc. etc.). A 7-11 convenience store is also proposed but is not yet started.

NOTE there is a new Publix being built about two miles north of Calabay Parc which I was told last week, is due to open on July 17th. This is in a new strip mall at Berry Town Center. That will be nearer the house.

Plus there's a Walgreens drugstore about two miles south (ie half way to Champions Gate, where you turn off US 27).

Better still - I do like Publix for grocery shopping. The new one sounds as if it will be very convenient
