HI everyone, hoping you can help with a decision.

We (2 adults, 2 preteens) are going next February. I figure we can afford a Moderate (this is before any discounts) but we are going to need two queen size beds in a room or I am going to be living with Dopey, Grumpy  and Sleepy :o .

From what I have read, I can only see queen beds in the Deluxes? I am ossilating between POFR and CSR (all based on the great info on this board) but will have to put the $$$ into queen beds. Does anyone know if some rooms in the moderates offer 2 queen bed?

Also any preferances on car rental companies. I only need it for one day to sneak over to Universal Studios (shhhh, don't tell Mickey but my children are huge huge Jimmy Neutron fans)

as always, thanks so much

Hi!!! Here are a few suggestions:

Watch your dates! Mid- Feb changes from value to peak season overnight! As long as your check-in date falls in value season, you get the whole stay at that rate.

I just returned from CSR and what a great resort!!!! Your kids will LOVE the pool slide!!! The one at CBR is more for little kids. I don't know about POR/FQ.

No queen beds at mods. Sorry. Have you though of one adult and one kid in each bed? DH and I never sleep in the same bed on vacation, if there are two in the room. He gets DS and I get my own bed (ha ha).You might fit better that way.

WL and AKL are not much more than the mods and they have queen beds. AKL is just out of this world and the transportation is top-notch! Also has a great pool. Don't worry. I know you will find a solution that will suit everyone. Two rooms at the All Stars would also be an option, but after staying at CSR, I know I will be very hard-pressed to stay anywhere else!

good luck!!!

You can get 2 queen beds at the Swan and usually there are ways to get a discount there that makes it close in price to moderates. If you have the entertainment card (just buy one of the books) that card will get you 50% the rack rate at most times of the year.

Unfortunately, there are no queen size beds in any of the moderates, only deluxes. That being said, there are two deluxe resorts, Wilderness Lodge & Animal Kingdom Lodge, which offer some lower priced rooms ($199 during value season during 2003), which are actually not too much more in price than a moderate room. Also, chances are, there will be some kind of discount, so I would say book a standard room at either WL or AKL and just wait and see if there are any discounts that would lower the rate.

As for rental car companies, I can't recommend a particular, but I do know that National is the official car rental company of WDW.

Check into a studio at OKW. Those rooms have two queen beds plus a mini-kitchen (microwave, toaster, coffee maker, under counter refrigerator and a small sink). You can park right outside your door. If you rent points at the going rate of $10/point from a DVC member, you can get a week for either $980 or $1090 (depends which part of February you go). No additonal taxes or fees to worry about.

Enjoy your trip!

No longer. Alamo is the new official car of WDW.

Thanks for that correction. Another Disney sponsership change!

I feel your pain... however, as someone else suggested, try an adult and a child in each bed. Works well for us! Usually they are so tired, anyway, they don't care where they sleep!

We have stayed in CBR, PO-FQ and PO-R. We have shied away from CSR, as there is only one sink in the rooms, and we find we get ready faster when there are 2 sinks available. Our favorite is PO-FQ, because everything is convenient, the landscaping is beautiful, the food court is fantastic, the rooms do not feel cramped (those at WL and AKL do), and since PO-R is a sister resort, we can use their amenities as well, giving us 2 themed pools from which to choose. Also, the boat to DTD in the evening is great. As for the busses, they run very smoothly and you will always be 1st on and 1st off!

Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great time!

I know you have champagne tastes.... but how about 2 connecting room at the All stars.... ?

the kids will be thrilled having their own room - they are safely connected with your room... you can have your privacy and 2 bathrooms!

Just a thought..

Thanks everyone - great suggestions

I am banking on some discount codes later in the year, so I think I might be able to swing WL - the queen and bunks look good. I hadn't really entertained this resort, so great suggestion.
We often do the bed splitting thing but noone wants to sleep with one of the dwarfs (a real kicker and puncher when sleeping :bounce: lol)

I am curious about how one goes about buying someone's DVC points? Can you point me in right direction because that certainly seemed like a great option.

thanks again

Start by reading all of the "Important" threads at the top of the DIS Rent/Trade Forum. Then read some of the threads about OKW on the DIS DVC Forum. Feel free to post any questions after you've had a chance to "digest" some of the info you glean from the various threads. You can get to the forums by using the "Jump" option at the bottom of this page.

FWIW, I think your family would love OKW!

Good luck!

You can zip over to the DVC Rental board using the following link. There you can read through the posts, or post a question.

DIS DVC Rental Board

Hope that helps,

the mods only offer 2 doubles or 1 king.
you may want to see what kind of rate you can get at the Swan, that'd be great for your "taste"! :)

otherwise, why not try for an upsell to AKL or the WL.
or.. if discounts come out, standard rooms at the WL or AKL can be as low as $135 - $145

renting points is a great option for a studio at OKW, I sometimes rent points to people.
You can check out the DVC rent/trade board for lots of information.

good luck & have fun!

Laura :)

How about a discount on the CR wing rooms. The rooms are huge, you get two queen beds and a daybed. Plenty of sleeping space.

One note about renting DVC points. For the amount of money you're looking to spend, you could get a studio. A studio had one queen bed and a double sleeper sofa, with the exception of OKW wihch has two queens. There also is a small kitchenette with a sink and small fridge, which is GREAT for eating breakfast in the room. The rooms are quite a bit larger than any of the mods, and much nicer. Go to the DVC rent/trade board here on the DIS and you'll probably be able to find someone who can rent you the points you'll need. Points usually go for $10 per point. A week in the first two weeks in Feb will go for between $980 - $1230, depending on resort. The last two weeks in Feb, go up to a higher season, so would be more expensive.

My sister is in the same boat. There is no way her and hubby can fit in a full - and neither wants to sleep with the kids. They are planning on staying at the WL.

Hi Crisi

Yes I have looked into WL and whether I look at the villas or a basic room I think the price will definitely be worth it. I am sure I can get some sort of discount to bring it in line with moderates.

The kids are really excited about the prospect of bunk beds and actually, I think the quick cafeteria there will serve our needs for cheaper meals (did I mention the one that is a good sleeper is the world's pickiest eater - I have no intention of spending money on good restaurants for this crowd.) Having said that, the option of the kids programs at the deluxe resorts will also allow the adults to enjoy a night or two of a decent meal (including vegetables lol)

Thank you to everyone that has recommended this resort. As I said before, I hadn't looked at it very carefully, but I think it will be great for us. The pool, the fishing options, the boatride to MK, the dining options, we are all into hiking and exploring...it really fits our needs. I am so relieved at having made this decision. If I spend more here, I will just cut some out of eating budget by stocking up on granola bars and crackers for the room. Even renting a fridge in the room will surely help with breakfast etc. (hopefully, I don't change my mind again...haha but you never know....:Pinkbounc

I will keep you posted
;)

I just wanted to mention one more thing in case you had to go with a moderate. If you need an extra bed for a small child at Port Orleans Riverside they have some rooms with a trundle style bed that rolls out from under one of the doubles. It was about the size of a twin bed(my husband fit just fine on it). I would let them know at the time of booking that you would require a room with this as not all of rooms have them.
