We are considering the champagne cruise but I am nervous. It seems like a lot of money to spend if it turns out to be so-so!
My questions are:
-Is the boat really crowded or can everyone spread out?
-Does it only seem worth it if you drink a lot or is the brunch nice too?--
--How are the fish?

Thanks!!:pinkbounc

Hi Momdoc,

On which island is the Champagne cruise offered?? While I haven't sailed DCL before (we leave April 13th on the Magic) My wife and I sailed on Carnival for our honeymoon two years ago and took the champagne catamaran excursion from St. Thomas to St. John's. It was the highlight of our Cruise! The price was around $90 a person and included an open bar all day (which I confess.. we partaked!) and a buffet lunch that consisted of cold cut platters and various salads (which were really quite good).

We chose not to snorkel (we had snorkeled at St. Croix the day before) and had a practically deserted beach to enjoy in perfect weather! The sailing to and from St. John's was *excellent* as the boat really cruised! Be forewarned that several people got seasick, but the crew really took care of those folks and they seemed to have good time as well.

Hope this helps!

Cheers....

We will be on Heavenly Days from St. Thomas to St. John. I hope this is what you were on!!

It's a great excursion if you have nice weather; unfortunately we hit a driving and cold rainstorm on the way to St. John that soaked everyone and caused many people to get sick. Pretty much ruined the excursion.

The lunch spread is nice, the champagne is HORRIBLE though...it's Andre. They do serve other drinks as well. The crew is wonderful.

If you have a nice day then it's a great excursion. :)

We thought the Champagne Catamaran excursion was great. It was longer than most and the boat and crew were great. The champagne may have been Andre but the rest of the bar was just fine. So was the beach, snorkeling, etc. Pricey...but for the "extra time" to enjoy and relax, well worth it for a family with 2 young kids (9, 5).

Hi again Momdoc,

Heavenly Days is the exact same excursion that we took two years ago. The crew was outstanding and the trip was a blast. Definitely worth the price. The other nice this is that the boat picks you up right at the pier where the ship is docked (at least it did for our Carnival cruise).

Enjoy!

It sounds like your two kids went with you on this trip. I thought I read that there was a minimum age. We have a 5 yo and an almost 4 yo, and we really wanted to do this excursion. Can they come with us?

I thought this excursion was limited to those 18 (or 21?) and over???!!!! (One of the reasons we selected it and pre-booked.)

Oops -- Sorry. I see that someone else asked that question too. Didn't mean to harp on it. I am curious though.

Dodie, it is no longer limited to those age 21 and older, but it does seem to have more adults and not too many kids (the pricing is expensive for families!). The minimum age is now 5 years and up.
