Has anyone been to Chalet Suzanne in Lake Wales? Have you eaten there? Simon recommends it in his Brit's Guide and the website looks great

We have booked there for Easter Saturday lunch.

Definitely worth the visit and a complete change from the theme parks.

We brought some of their soups back as more unusual souvenirs for those that had to stay at home whilst we went to Florida!

Thanks Sarah. We're looking forward to it - and thinks it looks a good option for Easter weekend when we expect the theme parks to be very very busy.

Never been Julie but it looks great :) Love to hear what you think when you get back?

It was on our 'maybe' list last July, but we didn't get around to it. We'd intended to visit the Historic Bok Sanctuary on the same day, which also looks lovely. Would love to hear what you think when you get back.

I'll let you all have a report on it when we get back! They were lovely when I called to make a booking - and seemed delighted to hear that we were from England!

Well - we went and it was definitely an experience!

We went for lunch on Easter Saturday. Totally unlike anywhere else we visited over there. There is a leaflet that gives you the history of the place.

Food was great - lunch (5 courses plus coffee) was served at a very leisurely pace. Fast food it ain't!

They gave us a gift of a can of their own soup to bring home to the UK and also took an instant photo of us which they then put in a paper frame for us to keep.

We were planning to go to the Historic Bok Sanctuary in the afternoon - but the weather turned nasty and so we didn't bother. Went to Lake Wales and visted Spook Hill as well as driving round the lake.

A very different experience - not for kids though. They'd get bored.

Thanks for posting back, Julie. We fly out to the States tomorrow, but you don't sound totally overwhelmed, so maybe one to do only if we're at a loose end.

Yes Deb - I think you've summed it up. It was totally unlike anything else I've experienced - so if you're looking for something new to do, I'd do it, if you have time. Also, I guess it's quite expensive to the Americans but slightly less so to us with the current exchange rates.

5 course lunch prices vary from $29 (Baked Sugar Cured Ham) to $46 (Maine Lobster Newburg) including beverage. Dinner is dearer - $59 to $79 per head. Also note the prices exclude 18% service charge and 6% tax.

Beautiful gardens (including a wedding garden) and a very nice lake with turtles in it. We had a window table right on the lakeside.

A million miles away from the Hard Rock Cafe!

Thanks for the review Julie. I think I'll wait till my DDs are a bit older though!
