Is it difficult to get chairs for everyone on Castaway Cay? This will be our first time there. We wanted to eat breakfast and take our time getting onto the island. But, I don't want to have trouble getting chairs for all 4 of us on the family beach. Thanks!

There is an almost endless amount of chairs. No shortage. If you're fussy about getting one right by the water, under an umbrella, or you want a hammock, you'll need to get out of bed early. But just to get any old beach chair, no worries. We've been there on a sold-out holiday Magic cruise and on a Christmas vacation Fantasy cruise, slept in, got on the island hours "late", and never had any issue finding a chair either time.

Thanks! We're not fussy about which chairs so glad to hear we won't have a problem.

My children and I always share 2 lounge chairs wherever we go. One or more of us is typically in the water, going for a snack, or whatever. I've never found a need for us all to have a lounger.

I think that depends which ship you are on. We were on the Dream last Summer, and another family that we know got off the ship around 10am or so, and not a single chair left unfortunately. Island was packed! Sold out ship! (was glad we had a cabana!)

We always find plenty of chairs by moving down to the second family beach, down past Pelican Plunge near Cookies Too.

Enjoy your cruise!

Just to be clear:

Regular chairs, as said there is an endless stack of them at the second family beach that you can drag/carry to anywhere you (and your back) can manage.

LOUNGE CHAIRS, I found to be very limited. There were a lot of them, but nearly all had towels/flip flops reserving them by about 10:00.

So it depends on what type of chair you are looking for.

We always manage to find an umbrella with 2 loungers and 2 chairs for our family of 4. We also share the loungers as most of the time at least 3 are in the water and 1 is on the beach reading. :) We usually arrive by 10 AM though and stay for a few hours before heading back to the ship.

This was one of the main reasons we love getting a cabana.............to not have any issue getting a lounge chair if we are a little late getting down to the beach as well as not having such a crowded water line to lounge around in.

This is just the first family beach. There's lots more chairs over in the Pelican Plunge beach

and here is a view of the original family beach area from the ship. To the far left - those are the cabanas, but there is a public beach there as well.

When people say "the family beach," are they referring to the beach closest to the ship, i.e. the first stop on the tram? In other words, is the beach closest to the ship considered the "family beach" while the second beach is called the "Pelican Plunge beach" and the third is called the "adult beach"?
And of the two non-adult beaches, is there one that's usually more crowded than the other? Is there one that's better for younger kids? Thanks.

@ToyStory3 We just got off a sold-out cruise on the Dream, and there were plenty of lounge and regular sand chairs. Even got a hammock. And we got there almost noon, which is late to us. There are two family beaches don't forget. This time instead of trying to get an umbrella, we decided to sit under some palm trees. Worked out perfect.

Like I said, we've never had trouble finding regular chairs and loungers on the second family beach, by Pelican Plunge. The first family beach does get very crowded but we just skip past that and head straight to the 2nd family beach.

I tend to think of serenity bay as the adult beach and everything else as the family beach. I've noticed areas near the pelican plunge, cookies, cookies 2 and washrooms are going to be busier. If you don't mind walking a bit it gets quieter as you get further away from amenities.

Scuttle's Cove(the kid's club on the island) is right by the first tram stop, closest to the first family beach. Our dd went to it as soon as we got off of the tram and spent about 1.5-2 hrs there. Dh and I then went to the first family beach and got some chairs and had some nice quiet time to our selves. We never made it over to the Pelican Plunge area, so we plan on going to the beach by it on our next cruise. My dd was 8 and really enjoyed Scuttle's Cove. The same CMs from the kid's club on the ship are on the island club. They play games with the kids, there's a sand digging area, and a splash pad area. They don't take them to the beach. You sign them in and out of it, just like on the ship. If your kids go to it, make sure you take your wave phone from the ship with you so the CMs can contact you if needed. The first family beach is also closer to the snorkeling area and where the stingray excursion is located.
