princess: I'm not sure I understand the PS thing. We're going 4/12 to BCV on rented points, so I've missed the 90 day deadline. So, if we eat breakfast do the chacters ignore us because we don't have PS or is it in a different room. We have 2 small grandchildren and they won't understand. Can you just get breakfast on that morning without a PS?

I don't thjink it's a problem. We're going 13/03 and just arranged our PS late last week. I believe the 90 days is when the window opens to arrange PS. You should still be able to call and arrange it. :hourglass

Making a PS is Disney's reservation-like system. You make a "priority seating" meaning that you are indeed guaranteed a table, but the time is not firm. You have priority over any walk-ins. You may be seated exactly at your PS time or you may have to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on how busy the restaurant is.

Even though you may have missed the 90 day mark, you still can call to see if there are any PSs available. The really popular Character Meals fill up quickly (Cinderella, Storybook Princesses, Crystal Palace). Sometimes there are cancellations and you can still get a time. If you are looking for a meal at Chef Mickeys you may still be able to get a table.

If the restaurant is full for that day/time you will not get a table, even if you walk up. However, if you are able to get a table by either a late PS or walking up, the characters will meet and greet you just like everyone else. The PS does not affect your level of service or character interaction.

I hope that makes sense.
Where are you thinking of eating?

You can still call and try to get a PS, I think the problem is that if you don't have one you may not be able to get in at all because the restaraunt will be filled up, or you could have a really, really long wait. The 90 days isn't a deadline, it's when you should START trying to get a PS, but the earlier the better. For regular sit-down meals, not character ones, I made PS arrangements about a week before we left with no problems. Someone else made our character breakfast arrangements so I'm not sure how early they did it. I know the princess one fills up really fast. I hope that helps. Something else we did, we checked all of the details out on www.allearsnet.com like the menus, etc., then chose backup restaraunts to make PS at if our first choices weren't available so I wouldn't have to keep calling back.

A PS is like a reservation for a restaurant. It ensures you will be seated close to the time you have arranged. People do walk in every day without PS's, as space is available. Once you are seated it is irrelevant whether you made a PS or not, it just helps with availability and wait times. Everyone is treated exactly the same way. The 90 days is not a deadline, just the opposite, it's the opening time for making resservations.

The character breakfast at the Cape May Cafe is one of many character meals available. This is the only breakfast available at your resort, however. I'm sure you will still find it available, but for best choice of time, call as soon as your plans are in place. You may want to check out other Character Breakfasts, too. We really like the Pooh breakfast at Crystal Palace in MK and the Breakfastosaurus at AK.

There are some very high demand meals that fill up very quickly as they become available at the 90 day mark. Some of these are next to impossible to obtain much after they start taking PS's and walk ins will be virtually impossible (like Cinderella's breakfast at MK). This would be the reason to make your PS asap.

Hope this helps.

I got a great tip from another Disney fan regarding character meals, (especially Chef Mickey's): Chef Mickey's is not open for lunch, only breakfast and dinner, so try to make your reservations at the latest time possible (like around 11:15am). Eat a small breakfast early (crossaints, bagel, etc.) go over to MK, then take monorail to Contemporary for a "brunch". The crowd should have decreased, leaving more one on one time for the children and characters. This disney fan claimed to have a great time and her kids loved the attention. I'm going to try it with my little ones in December. I'm sure that you can apply the same technique to the other character breakfasts.
