The Characters(yes, we are all real characters. Just ask the rest of the family)
Tausha (GrowinupDisney) my DSD, will be known as TGB or Tour Guide Barbie. This is an inside joke.
Chris, my DSIL will continue to be Panda.
Julie, my DW, will be known as Nala, because according to her, she is most like Nala.
Me. I will always be me. What else could I be but what I am? A Dude.
This morning started early. Notice I didnt say bright and early, just early as the sun had not even come all the way up yet. Today is Pandas birthday. The Big 3-0. Its all right. Turning 30 wasnt that big of a deal for me. Today is going to be a good day. We have a PS for Cindys breakfast at MK and we all have matching shirts to wear.
After getting going with rather chipper attitudes, we arrive at the front gates to MK. This rather interesting as we have all seen DL deserted in the early morning hours and MK doesnt seem much different. Its the same, but different at the same time. Strange. As the time to enter approaches, we are getting excited. Im not quite sure why since we cant ride any rides yet. Maybe its the excitement of being one of the first of thousands of people through the gate that day. We make a b-line for City Hall to get Panda his bday button. This was especially cool as all of the CMs we saw that day wished him a happy one. A little further on we stopped for the souvenir photo in front of the castle. This turned out to be a very nice picture of all of us and later on as we were leaving MK, we each bought one.
As we approached the castle I was noticing the differences between it and the castle at DL. Apart from being a different castle altogether, it was a different color too. This was strange as I am used to seeing a castle in this spot, just not this castle. Anyway, we make our way inside to the restaurant. This is a little different too as the castle in DL has no restaurant inside of it. We get seated and as we are enjoying some fruit, the Princesses show up. This is very cool. We all had our picture taken with all of the Princesses (this made for a lot of jumping up and down throughout breakfast). The food here was very good. I can highly recommend this for a family with kids (although I understand it is very hard to get PSs for this) and they will enjoy the food and the characters. Dont forget to ask for more French toast.
We started to make our way around to Tomorrowland after we left Cindys. There were not many people in the park yet so me hurried to Buzz Lightyear. I enjoy this ride, as it is interactive. You get to shoot lasers. Not as good as playing HALO, but very entertaining. I ended up with the high score each time we rode this ride for the rest of the week.
Now we were making our way over to Space Mountain. This was very looked forward to because Space Mountain at DL is closed for refurbishment. Bummer. This is one of my favorite rides at DL. WDWs Space Mountain differs slightly as the cars are a little different, but is still a good ride. I highly recommend riding the original if you ever get the opportunity. Once again we see that the imaginers decided on a dreadfully long queue line for this ride (remember the walk to Fantasmic??). We got through the line rather quickly and got on. Loved this ride. I could ride this every morning before work. Better than coffee.
We leave Tomorrowland and begin our trek to Adventureland. This is my favorite area at DL as this is where the Indiana Jones Adventure Ride is located (one of my favorites). What??!! No Indiana Jones at MK?? Bummer for me. But there is the Jungle Cruise. The Jungle Cruise at MK is in my opinion far superior to DL. I think the ride at DL is in serious need of a refurb. Our jungle guide was very funny. He told the usual stupid jokes and what not, but he had a very funny personality.
Next up, Aladdins Flying Carpets. This ride is just like Dumbo at DL. I dont ride Dumbo there so I passed on the Carpets here. TGB and Nala rode though. Nala never misses a chance to ride Dumbo at DL so she felt right at home on this ride. As we rejoined Panda, we see that he has been shopping. New pins adorn his lanyard and Our Pal Mickey is in his hand. This little guy is one of the most unusual pieces of Disney merchandise I have ever seen. OPM is cool, silly, annoying, and frightening at the same time. I dont think I could justify the cost of this critter, but lots of people do. More power to them. OPM will update you as to ride times, wait times etc. Very useful information if you happen to be able to hear him when he goes off. I saw TGB and Panda spending a lot of time trying to remember to listen to OPM.
I can definitely say that The Hall of the Presidents was much better than Moments with Mr. Lincoln at DL. This is good learning experience for kids. Make them go to this and watch. After the presidents, we went to Philarmagic. This was the best show we had seen to this point in the trip. Needless to say Nala was upset that the Lion King show that used to be in this theater was now gone. Not to worry. Simba made an appearance in Philarmagic.
As we left the show we took in the rest of Fantasyland and decided to head back to The Poly for a break. This began our love of the ferryboats
Next Post- The Ducks arrive.
