Has anyone been to either of these?

Which one would you "see" the most animals?

Does one have a more natural setting?

Any information on them would be appreciated.

Thanks

IT"S SPRING!!! Yea!!!

I've been to both zoos...the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford is very much an "old-school" zoo, meaning that most of the animals are in caged areas, as opposed to being in larger, free-range spaces. I know they have big plans in the works to overhaul much of the zoo. I haven't been there in about a year, so I don't know what changes they might have made since then. It's a pretty big facility, lots of animals and reasonably priced.

I went to the Brevard Zoo about six months ago. They had just opened their Africa exhibit, which was very nice. They had a collection of giraffes and other savannah-type animals wandering about. You walk on a raised boardwalk to check the animals out. It was pretty nice.

It was a small zoo, but they had a lot of stuff packed in there. For a few bucks, you can also rent kayaks and paddle around on a guided tour through some of the creeks that run through the zoo. Very cool way to see a zoo.

This is not in Central Florida, but if you're driving to Orlando and travel on Interstate 10 through the Panhandle, stop at the zoo in Gulf Breeze (a suburb of Pensacola, to the east of that city). It's probably the best small zoo I've ever been to. They have a large preserve where the animals get free reign. It's worth a few hours if you're ever up that way.

Hope this helps!

Although a bit of a ride for us definitley see the Brevard Zoo when in the area! And pay extra for the train ride, brings you up and close with animals! The Sanford AKA Central Fl Zoo is very small not much to see since the elephant exhibit was closed a few months back, recommend only for locals with small children.

I've been to both.
Actually, I've been to Brevard zoo twice & Central Florida zoo once, so that pretty much tells you which one I prefer.

Both are good zoos for their size, but what I really like about the Brevard Zoo is that you can be face to face with the Giraffes & feed them. It's a very unique experience.

Is the name Gulf Breeze Zoo?

Is the name Gulf Breeze Zoo?

I feel strongly that it was named along those lines. I do factually remember the "area" was Gulf Breeze tho it may be an extension of Pensecola I assumed it was a individual town due to the set-up? I'm sure google can return results I'm not good with sharing links tho I'll see if I can help ya with a site name ;-)

YEPPERS :-) That is the name ;-) As first timers at WDW we are hoping to get our animal "fix" during AK on our trip in Sept. Best Wishes on your planning
