Cellphones in Disneyland: My observations

My whole family likes to have our cellphones in the park because most of the time we are split up. I'm usually with my brother, and my parents hang out together. My brother is 15 and I'm 18, so we don't want to be with our parents THE WHOLE TIME (and I'm sure they feel the same way too)

We do usually meet up at random points in the day to eat together, or maybe go on a ride, so our cellphones are really helpful because otherwise, I don't know how we'd find eachother.

Plus, sometimes when I'm in line for 30+ minutes it's nice to play solitaire or words with friends to pass time.

I don't care if you use your phone etc. in the park as long as you're not standing in the middle of a walkway or walking slowly and looking down instead of up or letting their children misbehave or being oblivious to what's going on around them in general. If you want to make a call or write a text, stand over to the side or sit on a bench, no walking and texting! Respect is key.

I use Mousewait in the parks to check ride times, but other than that, my phone stays put away. When I went to WDW last month alone, I did bring my Kindle and I read that when I had the long ride lines (like 1 hour for Space Mountain), But I was alone then. It actually helped make the time go by quickly!
