Going for a quick 3 Wonder-ful trip. Not bring the Dkids. Can we use cell phones to keep in check with them?

it will most likey depend on what type of plan you have. we have cingular and our home area is the entire USA and parts of the virgin islands. check your plan...you just might be able to call. as an alternative, there are computers onboard where you can either do a "package" for unlimited internet use or pay per minute. we were on the 7 night and for the unlimited use it was 89.99 VS 75 cents a minute. hope this helps.

You'll only be able to use your phone, while in port at Port Canaveral and possibly in Nassau. Our phone did get a signa in Nassau, but I don't think the Bahamas are part of our National Plan so we didn't use it. You have to be careful when you're in another country and using your cell phone. Most National plans here in the US cover the 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Other than that, you can use your phone at OUTRAGEOUS roaming and long distance fees. Even on the Virgin Islands you have to be careful. We just returned from St. John and were warned to not use our phone, with the exception of being in the town of Cruz Bay. Eventhough we were receiving cell signals, we were receiving them from the BVI's, which isn't part of our plan. Well, we didn't listen and made a call from the area where we were on a BVI cell tower. That TWO minute call ended costing over $10 in long distance and international roaming because it was connected in the BVI's. The same can be said for the Bahamas, since it's not US owned and US cell towers aren't there. There is no cell service while at sea or on Castaway Cay.

Yes, definitely check your service plan - T-Mobile has a free "International" service add-on where you can use your phone anywhere in the world (mine is tri-band, so I can use it in Europe, etc, it'll handle different signals) at a set roaming cost. I think if I wanted to use mine in Mexico, and I had a signal, (I didn't check) it'd be $1.50 a minute...
