I'm sure the Synch does play mp3's well, but how's its battery life while playing mp3's? and how is the interface to play them?

The core of OS X is there though, you don't need the entire operating system that the Macs use.

I hate Windows Mobile OS, it's clunky.

Windows will be trying something like this, with their Zune.

I did read, but creating a candybar style phone with a touchscreen isn't what I would call copying. And frankly I care more about how the software works, which is what that link provides.

8 GB nonexpandable = enough memory for me. I really don't feel like messing with microSD cards or regular size SD cards if applicable.

There are so many WiFi hotspots now that I don't really need 3G.

Flash will probably end up coming down the road, heck they're probably working on it now.

I could careless about video recording, but it wouldn't be that hard to implement.

Most new phones are only available through one provider at first, for example the RAZR was only available through one provider when it first came out. Plus you will probably be able to buy an unlocked one and slip in a sim card from another provider.

Ive never ran my battery from full to dead while playing MP3's but Id guess around 3 hours. Not the 24 hours battery that the iphone has but who will be listening to music for 24 straight hours, its useless pretty much. Mac OS locks tries to lock you into all things Apple. Apple is all about monopolizing the market not creating a market for people to choose from. So you would feel it would be unjustified for Apple to sue a company that looked just like an ipod but had different software on the inside. 8 GB is like 4 movies and 2000 songs, not exactly but roughly. They would have to make entirely new phones with lens capable of recording video. The RAZR was made for 4 different companies when it was released. I highly doubt it will be unlocked its be a bad business move for Apple because that would be breaking contract with ATT and be nailed with huge lawsuits.
