I know this question has been asked a million times on this board and I never considered reading the answers 'cause I haven't had a cell phone until recently... :lmao: But... if I have my cell phone from home, and someone else has theirs, and we are both at WDW, what kind of fees are we looking at to call each other or is that considered "local"???

It really depends on the cellphone plan you have.
Likely you would pay ridiculous roaming charges, even calling to someone who shares your plan because you're now long distance - kwim?
I would call your cell phone provider and see exactly what your plan entails. If it's not suitable for what you need while you are on your trip ask if there's a one month plan you can subscribe to during that time period to save yourself some money. You'll have to do a little math to see if it's worthwhile for you.
What my dh and I are doing is just texting each other while we're there. There's no roaming charges and our texting is about .20 per text. A lot cheaper than any actual phone call.
Hope that helps!

Whew that is unbelievable. I have mentioned this before but if you are on Bell they do have a Florida plan for 20 bucks a month extra that gives 100 minutes in/out and includes all fees including roaming charges.

Dw and I are on Telus Mike service and can two-way each other at the parks just as if we were at home(billed per second) and it is covered by our plan with no extra charges at all. Calling is expensive as roaming fees are very high there. text messaging is also a good idea for us as it will cost me only .15 per message and Dw nothing as she is a massive text messenger and on an unlimited plan. I did use my cell to call home a couple times last year and the bill wasn't huge but I wouldn't want to use it alot.

I have Rogers and just got back from Florida last month. I never turn my cell phone off and use it the same way I would at home. I think I made a dozen calls or so. My extra charges were only $15. Keep in mind that I'm not a phone person and my calls are normally less than 5 minutes. If you're on a monthly plan like I am, your minutes go at a higher rate.

Are you sure Fido works outside of Canada? I know Bell Mobility and Rogers do but I'm not sure about any of the others.

Yes Fido does as I went to the US 5yrs ago and thats when they were JUST Fido LoL now they work with Rogers so they get longer range I guess but yes they do work in the US (I just wish they had US plans like other companies as I think thier fees for US are crazy)
